I went out to a property less than 5 miles from home yesterday to cut a bit of wood for myself and a mate. My mate got onto the place and invited me out. He hasn’t done much cutting and needs some practice but is learning. His cheap saw packed it in when the tensioner wouldn’t work so I lent him my back up husky and we both got some nice rounds. There’s still plenty left in these trees that were blown over last year but the land owner wants to leave some for his grandkids to climb over. I got my young bloke to throw the load off when I got home which was a good help. This is my first load for this autumn.

I love cutting like that; no bending.

Hope you can teach the fellow how to work with the saw.

Nice to take your mate under your wing there HuskyMatt and looks like a nice easy score (other than all the cutting, loading, splitting and stacking.

Yes mate one of the many eucalyptus species down here. It burns well and splits really easy and dries quick. It doesn’t get as hot or burn as long as the yellowbox I also burn but it’s still good wood.
We have had a cooler wet summer than normal but thankfully have missed all the flooding in our northern states that’s going on the last few weeks.

Thanks mate it does a good job. I built the cage myself and put the toolbox on the front for the saws, fuel, oil and tools. Better than carrying the smelly stuff in the Everest. If only it was a tipper as well lol.

yes, those are a blessing. Just walk along cutting rounds. Usually there is only one branch, but that tree has several. That should do for a while.

It’s been a couple of weeks but finally got around to splitting up this load. Split nice and is already drying out nicely with bark falling off. Started stacking straight into the shed for next year.
