Online sellers will start paying taxes

A buddy took a sack of cash to a dealership they would not take it. He had to deposit and write a check.

 

Refusing legal tender huh?

 

Rightfully so, they were worried about where it came from…lol

 

I've worked at a new car store, a used truck shop, and a multi-line bike shop...they all took large cash transactions somewhat regularly...but there were questions from the bank about what it was for over $10k (IIRC) I only know because I occasionally would make the deposits and do title work.

 

Hu, never known that to happen - granted, it's not like I do that every day. Nor have I ever paid the entire sum in one shot. I did nearly pay the whole sum for the 2018 Focus. But, if I took out a loan for at least 3 months, I got a Ford rebate of $1,000. So I took a bare minimum loan and paid it off shortly after that. And lets face it, the car was inexpensive and even though it was brand new, it cost less in total than what the cash I put down for my current Explorer (bought used).

Was it one of the larger dealerships (Grappone, Autofair etc) or a smaller/used car dealership.
