I tried calling my friend who is a fire inspector for a local town. I recall him saying something along the lines of SCA's post maybe a year or so ago. And I believe SCA works in the town I live in. Won't hurt my feeling none if its true
In 2020 they stopped issuing inspection stickers. Now they give you a piece of paper to keep with the reg. This is a state requirement not a town. Since it’s my behind on the line if there ever is an issue I’ll keep getting the tanks inspected.
It'll be your behind with anything you do in life. Just sayin'. If you crash on the highway and your inspected tank leaks all over the place the local FD isn't going to take responsibility for the cleanup cost or other associated costs. Your insurance company can also find loopholes in your policy to not pay. I agree you should follow the laws and rules, but that doesn't shift responsibility away from you.
Redonkerously up. Locally Menards best is Poulan @ $8 gallon with limited supplies, there were 3 Menards in Illinois that had Mystic for $4.99 they had around 40 gallon left last time I looked. Napa is over $20 gallon, MFA where I get mine was $6.25 last summer, they are almost $11 gallon for singles or cases, $9.47 for 55 gallon drum, I have another one on the way. By the time I drove 150 miles round trip & paid taxes on the Poulan, I am better off the buy from MFA & have it delivered. Stihl is $16 for regular, $20 for winter & waits for it …. $33 for bio-grade. This was at a True Value. Tractor Supply is $12-$20 depending on the type, County Line, Husqvarna or Oregon
I posted this the other day over on the OPE Forum : I just got off the horn with the MFA oil lab in Moberly. I had some questions about their bar oil. 1.) Shelf life ? Fella said after about 5 years the tackifier may start to separate but a good shake of the jug or stir of the barrel would take care of that. The reason I inquired is, I read on one of the spec sheets for another bar oil ( I can’t recall the brand ) the shelf life was 2-3 years. 2.) Whether it was virgin oil or filtered used oil with tackifier added ? He said that theirs is always virgin oil. They occasionally use older hydraulic oil & use hydraulic oil from damaged containers then add the appropriate tackifiers to get their blend correct. The fella also told me that they could blend up smaller batches thicker or thinner per customer preference. He then said they could deliver in bulk with the tank wagon using 275 gallon or 330 gallon totes. I told him that wasn’t really in the cards for me. Very nice, helpful & informative fella.
Ace hardware bar oil was $11/G a couple years ago. Now it's $14 or better. The name brand stuff used to be $15-20, now $28+. TSC county line was $7 or $8, all through covid. Presently its $12/G for the same stuff. I went through 5G last season, and have that much against this season. Hoping prices drop. When hoarding wood, hoarding bar oil and the like, seems germane. A 55G drum sounds enticing. Course thats a 10 year supply. Sca
I remember back in the 1960's an attendant pumped gas for you, checked and topped off your oil, radiator, and air for free. Days long gone! (note: this man is using a "ball peen hammer" to nail the sign up}
