Except in NH, from end of November until end of February. And I'm not talking about the shorter days, but also mostly cloud cover, with very few sunny days sprinkled in.

And those further north have a much bigger deficit.

 

There was talk in NH a couple of years ago about taxing by the miles driven per year - paid each year at registration (or maybe at the yearly safety inspection)

 

Because there is nothing negative visible at the charging station or an electrical outlet that makes electricity the perfect energy in the eyes of the liberal elite.

 

This has been educational.

When charging at home, can you plug in to just any outlet, or did you have some kind of special charging circuit installed? Times 2 for 2 vehicles?

 

What I found is that you can plug into a regular 120v outlet but that is level 1 charging....the slowest.

Or, you can plug into 240v outlet, like your elec dryer, and that will shorten the charge time. (Level 2 charger)

 

Sorry hunny, can’t dry your clothes need to charge the car so you can go grocery shopping tomorrow.

 

But, if she opens the window on the way to the grogery store, her wet clothes should dry some...

Some of the minerals in your cell phone, laptops, computers, etc. have the same issues you mentioned about cobalt. Do you care about that as well?

 

It would be only on sunny days during daylight hours. Windshield wipers and headlights will cost you severely.

 

While on the topic of caring about cobalt mines and the damage done by mining the resource, lets talk about the 143 former mine sites in the US that are or have been considered Superfund sites. Lets be honest, mining and refining most raw materials is a very dirty process whether those resources are used in EV cars or every day products that have been around us for decades.

 

They already have in Michigan. The "road tax" is added to you tag renewal every year.

Wood gasification does a pretty decent job of running a ICE. Plenty of vehicles have been driven around the country and during one of the wars a country gave gasifiers to farmers for tractors because of fuel rationing.
A generator running on one can get you electricity and heat a building along with DHW.
Back in the 80's a few of us ran a V4 Wisconsin for about a week until my dad said (with a bunch of word you can't use here) to shut it off.

My feelings on Ev vehicles... I'm all for it if the technology matches my needs, as in towing without stopping every 100 miles ect, and we aren't forced to go EV. I also believe in paying your own way. Buy the car yourself. But, as mentioned earlier, there are subsidies in everything it seems. Install a heat pump, get a tax credit ect. For my wife and I, one all electric vehicle makes perfect sense. The majority of our driving is well under the max range of any models we are looking at, even in winter, and can easily be charged at home or at her workplace. On the flip side, no EV is replacing our truck for what we use it for and I don't see there being one that can before we no longer need a truck.

Wanting an EV for us isn't about hugging trees. It definitely not political. Its for a purely selfish reason. More money kept in our pocket per mile of ownership. No oil changes, coolant flushes, transmission services ect on top of drastically reduced per mile cost to "fuel" it. We have always had fuel efficient cars as our daily drivers and usually a truck to do the truck things we need. The more I can save on fuel the more toys I can buy like guns, RC cars and chainsaws. Lol.

 

IMO - subsidies just allow the seller to charge higher prices.

Understanding supply/demand is always in play, if subsidies on most anything were to go away, my guess is prices would drop a bit.

 

I hope you are not trying to stereotypically refer to ALL liberals as "retards" and uncaring about their choices on disadvantaged 3rd world poverty stricken people.

Evil scumbags taking advantage of people in search of the all mighty dollar is certainly not a problem unique to PV solar or EVs.

And the fact still remains that utilizing fossil fuel for energy is "one and done" and the minerals mined and used to produce renewable energy and Evs are able to be recycled.
