It does not appear we will hit 60. Presently 53 in Saginaw and 55 in Owosso. I'll take it.

37 and holding steady overnight. Big warmup coming for Sunday and Monday, so the stove will probably sit idle until Tuesday. Spruce is throwing the heat in the meantime tonight.

The forecast for today was mid to upper 50's but it never got out of the 40's with mostly cloudy skies and a bit of rain and fog. Kept the fire going all day.

Got to 56 yesterday with a chilly breeze. At midnight it hit 60 but has been dropping since then. Now is 51. Just a little snow in the forecast.

36° out this am. Yesterday Milwaukee smashed their old record high of 62° with 66° yesterday. I don't know what the actual high was here where I live, but it felt like it was in the 60's that's for sure. Winds are HOWLING out there. 20-30 mph sustained with gusta to 50 mph. Last night's storm front was crazy, times of thunder and lightning, and the wind was over 70 mph. I had to get my grill cover from the neighbors yard this am, and there's a few small branches down. Glad I burned the fire pit that was full of twigs that I've gathered all winter. I'll have more to pick up.

Again, I'm so happy I took all the Ash trees that died down that were close to the house. It's much better as stacked firewood than as something that can fall on the house and damage it.

Ash and Norway maple in the quadrafire.

    74° inside.

If it's gonna get to 62 here like they say, it's taking it's time doing it. So far it went from 32 up to 36. Still burning, but rather not be.

I think we've got about another month or so of burning. Once it hits May, then fires are infrequent at the start of the month.

I need to time out pulling from my patio stack exclusively. There's a lot of shoulder season wood in that stack, fir, pine, box elder, silver maple and elm. I'd probably rather burn that slowly than have to take that stack and move/ restack it on the wood shed. Speaking of the wood shed, it looks like I'll have a decent amount left over in this year's bay after this heating season. I'll wait until May to tally up usage and planned overs.

I'm working on emptying the rack on the front porch. Then i'm going to use what is stashed in the garage. If I still need more I have about a half cord of basswood that I will finish with and start next season with. We burn off and on in April and a little in May.
