Lots of wood on this landing. All fire killed white and black spruce. Running my 572 Husky. Tho I could do it with my 251 with 16" bar.
Ah feller could plum wears out ah saw an ah splittin' machine on all dem logs! Nice score! Hoard on brother!
I’m thinking a well ported 394 and a 50” bar and you could slice down through a bunch of those each cut! Hoard on!!!
No. I buy it from the logger as it sits. It's a ways up a private road that has lots of heavy truck traffic. I used to drive that road when I was driving truck for a living . So I've had the background check and road certification. Not many people can get in there. So I have some pretty good choppins
It's the tops. The logger sells from 6-8" diameter top cut . And bigger. He Hated loading these poles with his log shovel or self loader. I just love this stuff . I don't even need to own an ax to burn this stuff. I bucked them all @ 10' length.
The problem with gang bucking poles in a deck with a bar longer than 36". Sometimes there will be a pole that is under a bind. And it will dead hang you up. With a 36 you have a bit better feel for what's tryin to git ya inside the deck.
Now that's a log deck right there! No dirt/mud, no bugs and no people. I could work that all day! Happy burning!
No need for splitting these. They max out at about 8 " dis. I probably won't split a single stick of this. A cordwood saw would be Sweet for bucking the 10' lengths I loaded onto the truck.
30 bucks a cord. This load is just under 2 cord because I was chicken. This is the biggest load I've had on this truck so far. But I plan on woodn er down to the top of the stakes next load.
And I have some all bucked to length to start my next load ! As I'm loading by hand with a pulp hook or hand tongs. I can get myself plenty tired with just the 28" bar on my 572 XPGW. It's kindof a short bar length. But it does fine for most of what I cut here in the Interior. I even fell timber in Southeast Alaska with a 28" on a 460 Stihl. For about 2 days. There ya do all your limbing while walking on the tree. A 28 is kinda hard on the back bent over limbing. These poles are all mechanically harvested and processed. Sometimes I will bump some knots. But that's it for the limbing.
With this winter, and the house not finished. We averaged 1 cord per month. We will still be burning till the end of April. But on a greatly reduced volume. 1 cord might get us thru till summer.
