Thanks for the suggestion but there is no Doug Fir in our cut zones, only lodgepole. Another guy in So Colo (I'm from NoColo) was telling me to get Conifer, no conifer here either. It's all good, kept warm with lodgepole for decades- no coals in the morning overnight, it's all good
Sure it is. A couple years ago, I gave all my fir away to the last my elderly relatives and various widows. I have no problem burning lodgepole as I have a big enough fire box not to have to worry either. It isn't like we can select firewood like some folks can select wine.
There are micro climates in the Northern Rockies. For myself however, the best we can get is Doug Fir, Lodgepole, spruce, and Larch. When I was logging, I could get Larch and a lot of it. But now I don't leave my valley and I'm stuck with the former. You can burn Aspen and cottonwood but you can also eat feral cats.
