Hedge splits fairly easily for the most part with a hydraulic splitter…

Usually Osage splits easily with my Fiskars but it’s no problem for my splitter either.

I have contemplated it but it would be weather dependent & my uncles cows are so spooky that with several vehicles in/out of the pasture they would likely end up in the next county. It took me 5 days of in/out before they somewhat calmed down & got used to my pickup.

No pictures today, although the grain hauling fell thru today. I was able to wash/clean all my air filters, clean all 5 saws up, repair a couple bars, order some parts, sharpen all but 2 chains that need the gullets cleaned out. All that’s left after those 2 chains are sharpened is to check my depth gauges.
I have another job lined up for next winter, a high school classmate is planning on taking out a fence row & wants me to cut the Osage for posts for him.

Here are some pics of new growth on some of the stumps. All trees were cut in late February.

Yep, with some Grazon Next or Pasture Guard to spray all the stumps, I am sure that cannabis plant will be a casualty also.

I cut a few more fence posts this morning & got another load of firewood, no pics of the fence posts, I was leaking too much coolant when I got done.

The Fiskars made short work of these rounds, I could of tossed them in as is but I just wasn’t feeling it so I broke out the X27. The chitty part now is I have a pickup & 2 trailers to unload & it’s supposed to be blazing hot this week. Fortunately only about 30% of what I have loaded needs to be split.

I know how much work Osage Orange (as we call it here is). Great job! I have a lot of it on my hunting property. I’m planning on cutting some more soon. As many have noted bring a few saws and especially extra chains or sharpening gear. You will need it.

I’ll typically burn 2/3 hardwoods and 1/3 Osage inside my stove. Otherwise burning 100% Osage in the stove can get dangerously too hot.
