Sugar maple takedown.....

    blacksmith and I hopped all through a couple hard maples the last two Saturday's, it was a fun job with the house, porch, dormer, service drops and the hot lines all joining in for the party....

    I'm going to mill this log on the spot, possibly this weekend or some evening this week. Hoping for some curl in the grain.....

    We have a lot of sugar maples around here, but they're all wild, and none that big. I bet that tree was beautiful in the fall. The way you're hanging from the ropes, and on those branches, would be like watching a movie that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Thanks for posting. :thumbs:

    If you can strip bark, you can see if it's going to be curly. I have pics of the wavy pattern somewhere.

    People have come from Nebraska and Jersey to the spring GTG in Michigan. Then there's leoht that came up for the GTG from Australia a couple years ago.
