The foam breathes better for better performance. The foam has to be cleaned with hot soapy water and re oiled, so it’s not as simple as blowing it out with compressed air.

you think Ms. buZZsaw would :heidi:me if i ran it through the dishwasher? :emb:

Okay like an old pushmower one. Think i remember doing that before. Any specific type of oil?
As you can tell working on engines is not my cup of tea.

Google. But they work great. I have one that I use for home use, although I post on FHC mostly from my phone.

They are like 2 stroke dirt bike filters, so any Japanese motorcycle dealer should have filter oil, or buy online. Let filter dry before oiling. I had several oiled filters ready for CR’s, so I could swap out dirty ones and clean later.

I would have been all over that deal…really nice score! It would be nice to have the OEM muffler also.

I would consider doing the Mtronics 3.0 calibration procedure with that muffler plate. Manual has the procedure…
If you use YouTube for the procedure, find someone who is doing it correctly as I see some that are not.

let me know how loud that thing is… I’m curious.

This copied from the Stihl description of the saw. I guess the 362 OEM filter is permanent.

For all your tree felling, bucking, de-limbing and other thinning operations, turn to the MS 362 chainsaw. With its reduced weight and large fuel capacity, this saw mixes great power with fuel efficiency. Its advanced engine technology reduces exhaust emissions to provide you with a dependable tool for the jobsite. The MS 362 also runs longer between filter cleaning and features a lifetime air filter that you do not need to replace – just keep clean.

    I know I’m liking the 362.

I’m really liking pairing it with the 18” bar. One advantage I’m learning is the availability of chains for an 18” bar seems to be more convenient than a 20”. At least at my local hardware stores.

My 361 (precursor to the 362) wears an 18" bar most of the time. Have you tried a 20" ?

Wow, Brad You really got a nice deal on that MS 400 with all of the additional features! You will be really happy with the large capacity clutch cover as the 400 can move some chips! I’m running a 25” Stihl light bar and so far very happy with it but have only a couple tank’s through it to date. The stock muffler is plenty loud for my taste, can’t imagine what the bark box will be :faint:. Enjoy your new toy, errr tool!

I’ve got an 18” and a 28” bar for it.

The 28” has a full skip, full chisel and a bunch of milling chains right now. The goal was to move the 28” eventually to a 661 for milling or else the 462. Not sure going to a 500i would be worth it for that purpose

I asked the dealer when I bought the 362 which chains he had more of. He said 18”. He seemed surprised when I told him I wanted the 18” bar then instead of a 20”.

the hardware and farm supply stores around here seem to keep the 18” on hand more than 20”. So that’s why I went to an 18” bar.

Oh, I didn’t even notice that the thread was from 2022 . Do you feel that the stock oiler keeps up for your 24” bar? I was bucking some larger white oak yesterday and it seems less than adequate even turned up to max. Even so, the bar oil was used at about the same rate as the fuel.

    The 362 air filter isn't "permanent" - it's a maintenance item and it shares a filter with a 261.

Unless it's an older 362 prior to the HD2 system.

Ive only run the 24" bar a couple times on this saw. I have three larger CC saws for bigger wood. Been running a 20" bar for a while now. 400 goes into a rotation of sorts with the 462, 460, & 500 for the bigger saw when i go cut. 261 almost always the smaller saw.
It has an adjustable oiler and i havent touched it. Cant say ive noticed any issues.

If using equal amount of oil and gas id say you're okay.

The older 362 filter is "permanent"? Stihl says just blow it out. That was quoted form the Stihl page.
