My plan is to stock up, then continue to buy as I use, leaving the stash alone until late winter when the prescheduled shortages and price increases will occur. It is like watching a perennials event.

Hey, I'm not all frugal. I do have a sweet tooth for rocket fuel. Just can't eat them everyday. I do buy some of the expensive/good chit here and there!

I'm done with the hours and hours of searching. They eventually come my way to try sooner or later. No long rides to get them either. If I happen to be in the area for other matters? Then I might stop and look. Same reason I haven't traveled to Upton. No time these days. Just for a few tidbits.

Most of my "finds" are the result of networking with others. Let your fingers do the walking!

Waiting until early fall shouldn't hurt much. Waiting until mid winter might be taking a big chance!!

I've done this the last couple seasons(just can't seem to be able to burn the Cubex or Hamers). Only had issues late last season refilling. Rumored it may happen again this season, But thats a wait and see deal too!! Stackes are pretty high every where I have been so far.

Prolly burn off the Cubex this season, So I can get a full 3 ton's in next spring or if a deal flies bye!!

Seems every time we have a shortage(looking back at 08'). Mills ramped out some extra goods thinking they may sell extra. Pellet dealers(even box stores) took in extra. Hoping to sell more. But often the buyers don't buy all that much more. So they end up with a surplus come April. In order to move them, They could drop prices(marginally) to get em rolling. So a deal might be had?

Something else to consider that might throw a wrench in it this season, They are forecasting another cold winter. So if the cold does come and people do need more fuel? I'd say all bets are off and no surplus and possibly even another shortage.

But boy, A spring surplus would do nicely.

If I knew I would be able to get pellets as cheap as we can right now I would have put that second pellet stove in my bonus room..... However the pellet houses near me are more expensive than ever.

That's pretty much what I did last year. When the shortage hit, I was stashing Blazers while a lot of others were burning everything they could find.

I plan on buying another 3 tons as soon as HD gets them in. That would give me 5 tons to start the season. As I burn them I will buy 10 bags here and there to make sure I don't run out.

The US is exporting more pellets than ever before, with no real net gain in production. And the Europeans pay more. So, if you were a pellet mill owner and had a choice to make more money, what would you do? Okie platinums are still marginally available around here, but not how they used to be. Why? Cuz they are mostly being shipped out.

As for ramping up production? Im not so sure this has happened this year with most suppliers. I know Doug's company brought on a new line in Georgia which is very prevalent here now (Gold).......but the "same old" mills this year don't seem to have the supply in previous years.....Vermont, Turman, etc.....

AS for the winter....who knows? We wont know till its too late, as usual

There ya go spoiling my dreams! :p

NEWP and Energex are the mills I have seen ramp things up. MWP looks to be putting a bit more out on the shelves. Will it effect things? I don't really know. Prolly not!!

As for winter, I just need to look out in the woods and see the colors already showing. I'm not gonna tempt having just enough this season and chance a shortage mid winter. As some of the others stated, I too will keep my stash full as I go through the season. Better to have too much than not enough.

hmmm...got a couple thousand of TONS of those tan bags myself....they are out there, you just live in the boonies! :)

evenso, Ive got it on pretty good authority that even NEWP's, in all their iterations, might still be a bit tight.......

How much has stove sales risen? I talked to a local dealer and he has sold a few. But said mostly to owners doing upgrades.

I chatted with him while a buddy of mine was looking into a Pacific Energy PS45 to replace his breckwell P22. Stoves ordered and he'll be getting it in a few weeks.

Curious-what brands are you looking for at HD? Cirrently I have seen only NEWP and Maines Choice at any HD near me, neither are pellets I would jump on. My main issue with HD is their not having any control over what they get in and when.

The MWP at 207 is a good deal, they are well worth that price IMHO.

Is that an exaggeration? A couple thousand tons of pellets is a ridiculous amount to have on hand lol
