I really don't think they cared to be honest. There are many homes around here for sale that buyers "Flip" and the money is in the re-sale of the house. This was once a retirement community and now EVERYONE want's to live at the Shore, so they remodle, rebuild and sometimes flatten a house and build back on the lot for BIG $$$$$$$$. The people who make out are the folks at the transfer stations when they dump this stuff. They go through and pick out Haz-mat and recycles, most of them make out like bandits! :makeitrain"
A few years back, I found a "Brand new" Husqvarna lawn mower on the curb with the $399.00 tag still on it, the oil hadn't even been put in it yet, o_O I gave it to my Brother. Nope, people do not care.

Nice find dave! I scored this Griswold #8 dutch oven this afternoon. Someone listed it for sale on the other side of town for $15. I offered $10 and they accepted. Turns out they were from the church i went to growing up.. Gonna get her cleaned up a bit and hit it with some oil. Looking forward to using it this camping season.

What's up with finding all this cast iron for free or cheap up north?? Go into a flea market or seconds shop around here and fine a piece of CI, it can be an unmarked crappy piece and they have it priced like it's a painting of Mona Lisa's half sister....

Eckie my guess is alot less people cook with it up here. Probably not as many collectors either.

That's how it is around here too, Facebook marketplace being the absolute worst. I've gotten good deals at antique malls though, usually for stuff that needs a good cleaning which I am totally fine with doing myself. I'm not much of a collector but I have numerous pans and I think it's about that time I go hunting for a couple more. It's been a while...

Do any of the collectors here have a specific pan they use as a "go-to" for everything? The more different pans I've got over the years the more I realized I was using certain ones for certain foods, like an egg pan, steak pan, beater pan I don't mind throwing on the charcoal grill etc. I think my most used one though is my old Wagner 10 which I'll cook just about anything in. The pan is a 1915-1920 era "wagner sidney O" arc logo before they came out with their standard logo we've all seen. That one and my Erie #8 are probably my favorite pans, but the Erie heats up very fast and almost gets too hot for my preference. It's kinda funny to me how each cooks differently, and I'm sure most people just figure "cast iron is cast iron"
