The pic? It may be. I’ve never seen a cottonwood that I’m aware of. I know there’s some ambrosia maple as they’re fond of calling it on FB. There’s more pics just used the first. Eric’s good anyway. He has a pile of fun to play with :)

Luckily we only got 6" snow from The weekends storm. Hit the hydro for a few hours yesterday. A little shoveling and i was good to go. Split red maple with some walnut too. Nice cold day with temps in the 20's. IMG_0374.JPG IMG_0375.JPG IMG_0376.JPG IMG_0377.JPG PU full of splits came back home. They will be for bundles 9-12 months from now. PU was backed right up to splitter to load. Ran out of gas and made a fuel run. IMG_0379.JPG IMG_0379.JPG Still another cord of both to split. IMG_0378.JPG

More time on the splitter today. Hickory and oak. Splits got moved to the back yard where i store multi year wood. Ground frozen and he snow blowed a swath for me to get back there. IMG_0386.JPG IMG_0384.JPG IMG_0383.JPG One split kinda reminded me of a turkey leg when it popped off the splitter! Made me hungry. IMG_0387.JPG Made a dent in the rounds on hand. IMG_0385.JPG Guessing i have roughly six cord in rounds to split yet.

For someone who pretty regularly cuts firewood, having had the hydro for a while, how would you say your production has been impacted buZZsaw BRAD

Nice work, once again, my friend. Good thing about the hydro, when ya hands get cold, you can warm them on the cylinder...:fire:

I dont worry about having to split rounds right away when they come in as before. The fresh cut hand split a lot easier. Id say my hoarding is about the same.

Cold windy day here yesterday. Temps in low 20's with a good wind chill and a couple inches of snow from the weekend on the ground. Frozen ground so i spent most of the afternoon splitting red maple, some walnut and black locust. IMG_0456.JPG IMG_0455.JPG IMG_0459.JPG
Load of red maple splits came back home for stacking here. IMG_0453.JPG IMG_0461.JPG IMG_0462.JPG

Split another PU worth of red maple yesterday. More like splitting in the mud as most of the snow was gone. Just a few red maple and walnut rounds left in that area. IMG_0468.JPG IMG_0467.JPG

Yes. Limited time at the time. Back right up, move hydro next to PU and go to town. Entire thread has been hydro. Only hand splitting ive been doing is in my woods with the dead ash ive been working. Also when doing bundles. Maybe half the splits i make smaller.

Time restrictions and the rest of the maple was frozen to the ground and buried next to a mound of splits. I wanted to finish up what i had in the area ive been working. Those came back here to be stacked...future bundle splits.

Looks like you been doing your fair share of processing with the weather changes. Have you had to contend with the mud much? We had about 6 inches of snow melt from Wednesday into Thursday, then Thursday afternoon, it started to rain and quickly moved to snow. We had about 4 inches by Friday morning. Ground was still soft from the previous days thaw, plus the sun came out, which was beautiful, but turned the new snow into a slushy muddy mess anywhere you drove. Then we were back down to single digits yesterday, so everything froze back up. I hear today’s supposed to be back up in the 30s to 40s:hair: Ah, the things we do for firewood:rofl:

We had a few weeks of frozen ground which was great for me as i have to drive over hid yard. Today last day of freezing temps, 21* now and will have a load of BL to empty in the back. I doubt any more to come, but no complaints...yet!

Frozen ground makes all the difference:yes: Got into a black locust log yesterday at my buddy’s. Never have the opportunity to cut it much. Only my second time ever! Needless to say, I set it aside for myself. Too rare an opportunity to let someone else burn it:rofl:
