I clear out my hearth every spring for cleaning, I put all the accessories in the basement for the summer.
My wife puts the big dog bed on the hearth. I got the room, almost time to kick the pooches out...

It was touch and go there for a bit but we had a buddy bring a heavy duty dolly and built ramps for the 2 sets of steps. This thing is heavy. We were able to shed some decent weight but it was still a struggle for 4 people to lift it on the hearth. I still need to connect it to the tee and extend my hearth. I haven't decided which route to go for the extension.

Awesome looking install. Nothing like some break-in fires in August!
Was it difficult getting the behemoth from floor level up to the hearth?

I have done a few preparations here for when my IS comes. I have a ramp built
that will take the stove right off the back of the pickup and into the front door.
I modified a furniture dolly by adding 4 addition wheels and 2 more supports.
From there it should roll all the way to the hearth, which is at floor level.

I wonder if WS has the IS booklet online? I'd like to get some of the reading out of the
    way before it comes.

Congrats BS, the IS looks awesome on your hearth. Can't wait to hear about your burns when the season
begins, I'm probably gonna go to you and the other IS owners to compare.

We stripped down the stove as much as possible and it was still a 4 person task. We each grabbed a corner and lifted it up. I had cardboard down and then we set the legs on the carpet moving coasters. From there I was able to slide the stove around as I was hooking up the collar.

The stove paint instructions called for a 400 fire for 45 minutes and then a 600 fire for another 45 min. It took a while to get to 400. I was able to hold it there very easy. Once I had a coal bed, I chucked in some smaller splits and hit 600 real quick. Was pushing 700 for a few minutes but shut the air down and quickly the stove started dropping. Amazing control. Great secondary action. I had a solid sweat going working around the stove.

Firsts time burning a stove. It was fun.

So I guess this stove takes a long time to get up to temperature but then holds the heat well after the fire goes out.

I would not say it will take a long time to get up to temperature. Not sure why you would think that?

I'm guessing he said that because I said it took a while to get up to 400. I should clarify that I was nursing it as I didn't want to hit 600 before I kept it at 400 for 45 minutes. Being my first time running a stove, I was slowly adding wood.

I am amazed that the Ford Pick-up isn't sitting lower on it's suspension with that stove sitting there.

Can't wait to see pics of all these cool new stoves.
