The frozen circles are actually ice pans, or surface slabs of ice that form in the center of a lake or creek, instead of along the water's edge. They are a very rare natural phenomenon that occurs in slow moving water in cold climates. They are thin circular slabs of ice that rotate slowly on a body of water's surface.”

Another winter treat is where water seeps up to the ground, during freezing weather of course, and forms frost flowers. My sister lived near Table Rock lake in southern Missouri, and we used to see them there. They are small, very fragile and like snow flakes, no two are alike. I've never seen ice disks that are thick like the one's shown on Lake Huron. We have several rivers and streams where non-elevated ice disks form such as that shown by The Wood Wolverine . Then some years, I get an ice disk in my own back yard when the snow melts just right around an overturned bird bath
Nature’s beauty is everywhere and is truly amazing. We are so fortunate to have modern technology to take awesome pictures and videos for us to watch in our recliners.
My aunt and uncle were pretty much house bound for several years, we couldn’t get them to get a computer. They would have enjoyed the world in the comfort of their home. Sad.
