Fired up the 462 to buck some black locust this afternoon. Put it to the first cut and it wouldnt bite...WTH i just sharpened it this morning. I look and much to my embarrassment :emb: i put the chain on backwards.

After cursing myself, then laughing for doing something so dump, i flipped the chain and it cut fine!
Can i blame old age yet? :BrianK: IMG_0464.JPG

another thought, maybe you could develop a saw with forward and reverse then you'd be all set

When it wasn't cutting, did it still pull to the right?

I did the same exact thing after sharpening a chain my first time. I thought I'd ruined the chain?! Looked closer and it was backwards *flipped* chips flew and I was ecstatic!

A 462? Youve been in the poison ivy too long, CAD or not you have more itches than scratches.

I did the same thing, stihl (pun intended) being inexperienced, didn't help. But I was trying to cut wood, and I wasn't getting anywhere, wondering what the heck. Right about that time me neighbor popped up out of nowhere (he does that), I told him what was going on, and in about 10 seconds had my problem diagnosed. I felt silly...

My most recent purchase from two weekends ago. Prior owner had maybe three tanks through it. More of a virgin than your 361. Ill hafta come over and we'll have a 462 cutting party.:saw:
Got enough logs for em Joe? ;)

I wanted an MS400 but this saw was a tad cheaper and only slightly heavier

I did it on one tooth for photographic purposes only! I imagine it'd be a "bit" grabby with no rakers!

Gonna be starting on the box wedge soon. Hope to be done by early spring. At that point I’ll turn back to the chainsaws and logs. Bud I can keep you busy cuttin as long as you want :)
I’d bet you’d get a kick out of hauling some more logs out of the woods with the log arch. I find that highly enjoyable anyway.

Get the 462 off FB marketplace? I remember seeing one there.

I’ve done it a couple times. :D On purpose!

When ya make a “race” chain, one of the last things you do is stone it. It’s a way to get all the cutters cutting the same width so there are no outliers.

Im game for cutting...always am. Ill bring the 500i and be done in a couple hours! :D

Log arch sounds like fun as long as its not human powered! Winch in, winch out feature????

462 came from Torrington. Bought a 261cm Mtonic (same day, same town, different seller) to replace my carbed 261.

    Is your 462 Mtonic?
