Yesterday morning I woke up feeling like a truck hit me. My son has been sick with a nasty cold since Wednesday. Yesterday my wife and I both got it. Sinus headache/pressure, high fever, body aches, and of course stomach issues with me because I can't eat anything. I was shivering so bad yesterday, it hurt.
What I am grateful for is my easy wood setup. I could not imagine going outside to get wood, even once a day. I have about 1/2 a cord still left inside, should definitely last another 2 weeks. I struggled to get 4 slingloads, about 16 splits, of wood to the stove. I couldn't wait to get back on the couch. Needless to say I found a con with heating solely with wood, you still need to function no matter how sick you are.

Great to have plenty in the house ready to go, especially when you’re feeling like garbage. Take care of yourself and the family the best you can, and I hope you kick whatever it is that you have in short order.

If it gets too bad, don't wait too long! My stubbornness landed me 5 days 4 nights in the hospital years ago with pneumonia. I was laying on the bathroom floor and told my wife it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. Take care so you can get well soon.

Take care of yourself. It’ll pass. Want some unprofessional internet advice? Start pounding vitamin d. I mean pound it. Can throw in some c and zinc but the d is where it’s really at.

jo191145 Absolutely on the Vitamin D. People have perished because our medical Gods refuse to talk about it. Been before the virus started hitting. Had a mild dose of the virus a few months ago. Vitamin D is critical.

now as for the firewood part- That’s why that 3 year plan is good. There may be times like this, when getting out there isn’t an option.

I agree with the vitamin d and c and zinc but also add quercetin as it helps open the cells to get the others in. I

Good to have wood close as well

Not to get off in a tangent that upsets the mods but yes. I’ve spent the last two years almost full time researching this virus. Research from overseas, hot off the press before its mutilated. On search engines that don’t skew the results. Vit D is a fairly solid determination of what covid will do to you. They could, if they wanted, check your D levels and know what your prognosis would be.
It’s also one of those supplements you can’t overdo. The body will take as much as it wants or can depending on your system. The rest gets harmlessly flushed.

As for the wood. Same here. I’ve had two “issues” in the last five/six years that put me out of commission. And a round of covid :) I thank this forum for the education and spurring me into hoarding which allowed me to have a stash to fall back on. A hobby is so much better than a chore.
