I too was out of the cutting loop for a while. It was a great feeling a couple weeks ago to get back at it. Needless to say I soon realized that I am out of shape but coming around.
A LOT easier to split at that length! James Miller & farmer steve are busy cutting. Can you ride shotgun with them?
Didnt know you took elm chud? What is you normal MO for it? Buck to rounds and let bark fall off then split?
I still have an unbelievable supply at my oak honey hole I just need the time and the weather to cooperate.
I have my wife give it some side eye and the bark falls off. I’ll let it marinade for a while after cutting it into rounds. I have not collected much elm, but the logs were so nice I couldn’t pass it up.
I know the feeling i heard a chainsaw running Saturday morning across the street and it got me pumped up..after finishing my morning chores i went outside take the tarp off the pallet and cut up the remaining rounds i had into chunks for bbq
Hoping to put our new dump trailer to use this week sometime. Also hoping that I'll have my phone camera fixed tomorrow so I can take more loaded truck pictures. Ill post an update here in the next few days.
A nice jag of Ponderosa Pine & hopefully a few boards can be milled out of the the 2 logs, if not I have more firewood.
Load of ash from up the road. Ash will probably be 50% of what I cut this year. Loggers took out most of the oak including alot of dead standing on the property most of my wood comes from.
