Running my new to me MS261c mtronic and noticed the switch automatically returns to "on/run" when its shut off. My carb version 261 didnt do this. Ive also noticed my four other Mtronic saws have this feature. Is it on the mtronic saws only? I like the feature except when i run my older saws and forget to flip it to "on" when starting!
Ive heard Husky owners state this in the past. jo191145 liked his for that reason. Ive grown to like it!
The struggle is real. I have 2 Mtronics and 3 manual carb Stihls and it can be awkward going back and forth. My Husq 543XP has a manual carb but has the return to on feature.
Yep, hard to jump around different saws doing different things. Think that’s why I always flooded the 361. Forget to turn the switch on.
I have 2 old school Husqvarnas with the on/off switch on one side and choke on the other. Also 2 echo's same situation. A 361 with the old style Stihl control and a 462 with the auto return to run feature. I don't like the old style Stihl control. The new (462) control is great. And the echo system is just fine too
I push the "choke" on every time i start my mtronic saws. They always start and never flood. I've always thought that was the way it's sposedta work.
I recently read or saw a video where a guy was recommending to always start a Stihl saw in choke position, even when saw is warm.
So its not exclusive to Mtronic saws? Like i said my circa 2019 261 carb version doesnt have it. 500i, both 201cm's and now 462c & 261c have it. Next time im at the OPE dealer im gonna investigate. Do you know Stihl's name for this feature Steve?
You can start hot start an Mtronic in the run position just like a manual carb or you can start in the start position. Just like in a regular carb version, the run setting will close the choke a little and put the fuel in "high idle". .
My Troy Bilt weed whacker has that, the only thing I own that does. One downside I can think of is older kids maybe pulling the cord and it starts up. You know, saws stored in the garage and maybe you're on the other side of the yard mowing the lawn.
Thats cool because it eliminates the step of forgetting to flip the switch which id say inevitably happens…sumthing to think about tho i heard people say the term “over complicate” do you guys think this is over complicating the saw in the way that the auto switch on feature may malfunction and then become just another thing that needs fixed?
