Same here. I loved the fact they are practically new. Whats on your new saw radar Jason?

Ill probably get aftermarket dawgs for the 462 and my 500i similar to the ones i have on my 460. Maybe OEM for the 261

Yep, Brad, I never find saws in such barely used condition! I am still lusting for a 462 or a 500 but I am not sure I will pull the trigger. I don't know that I need anything bigger than my 400 and as I have said, each ounce makes a difference. But... a friend recently brought his new 500 and new-t0-him barely used 462 and both are mind-blowing in big wood. The power is pretty darn remarkable. Sharp chain, better hang on!

Without me spending too much time googling, what is the advantage of outer dawgs or bigger dawgs. I mean, yeah, they dig in, but what do you notice? What could one do that he can't do with one dawg? Another dawg adds more ounces! Ok... not much but we're splittin' hairs here. I wish it weren't so but I poop out quicker than I used to, lol.

The thing I noticed most about having an outer dog is the saw feels more planted/stable when bucking a log.

I first put double dawgs on my 460 few years back. Bigger gets a better bite into the wood and the second allows for a better pivot so the cut goes straight. They have custom ones made of aluminum that ive seen. Gonna get them for 462 & 500. Heres a link for FBM

I don't, but I'll ask Charity at the hardware store when they open Monday. She knows everybody, and about everything scuttlebutt wise. Believe it is a Subaru dude ranch operation that he either owns or works at. I'll let you know Monday night when I get off work. Are you a serious seller, before I change Mondays schedule?

I was 100% kidding, but thanks for wanting to do that! :handshake:

I understand. If it is broke in even more importantly. I can't stand breaking in a new saw, just like new boots. I just couldn't pass up the deal. I literally just handed the saw to him. No cleanup or anything.

The reason we put bigger dogs originally out here is for falling. If you are in big 3 foot plus timber in predominantly doug fir, is that they bite in the thick spongy bark better. Much less fatigue, and safer. Also makes a big difference when bucking on decks when you need to jab in and cut over the top and part way under.

Well, I'm in if it can help with making straight cuts! I just now had that problem bucking logs with the little Makita ea4300f that I love (which has one dawg) and I just sharpened the chain, sumpin's off!
