This morning is not the coldest we've had this year as far as temperatures go but it sure feels like the coldest. It feels raw out there.
3-4” more out there at least. So a total of somewhere around 10-12” since the the beginning. Guessing at those amounts. It’s still snowing now. Wife’s school now closed as well. Letting them all sleep in. Enjoying the quiet with the Mutleys.
-5 out right now, with not much of a wind. Burr oak for n the OWB. You know it's going to be a good day when you get to call the boss by 6 am and tell them the loader vibrating to beat hell and is fixing to brake at any time in a spectacular fashion.
Feel very fortunate to have woken to 42 degrees and no ice. It's going to take at least a month without precip (and warmer temps) to dry out the mud. My front driveway is a lake. Tonight's lows are 22 w/ wind chills in the low teens so I'll have another skating rink. 74 inside and still burning slow.
19 and have a load of cherry in the stove. Level 3 driving conditions in the county I work soooo , put another log on the fire
9 and 73. Ash in the fireview and sugar in the IS. We ended up with 10” of snow. That’s half of what was predicted but still a good snow for us. My kids are loving it. Getting ready to get everything plowed.
Currently we are at 19 degrees with snow (we've had about 10" in the last 24 hours with another 4-6 predicted today/tonight). I am working from home. The insert is consuming a steady diet of red oak and beech, and soon black locust will be added as I've worked the pile down to that. The pup came in after running around in the snow and is now snoozing in front of the fire. I love days like today.
16 out now. The wind has died down and the snow has stopped. Snow is anywhere between 1" and 16" in the yard. Headed below 0 tonight. Haven't made it out to the boiler yet but I suspect there's still plenty of ash and maple in there. Going to let the coals burn down real good and load up with hickory tonight.
county plows just made our dead end road. May be time to make a run! snowed for hours yesterday, into the night. Lots of sunshine now. mid twenties at the moment. So happy I took of last Thursday, while it was gorgeous and payed in a day of css. Had a mix of oak and maple, all getting burned first. Adding a touch of seasoned with it.
02/05/2022 and it's 20° out with .25" of ice covered by 4" of sleet covered with 2" of snow. A bit unusual here. 6 splits of white ash loaded at 0830. My hickory and white oak splits have another 2 years in the stacks before they are ready for the stove. Once ready they will only be used for the worst of future weather because I don't get much of it.
We had 7.5 this morning with eight inches of new snow, three driveways plowed and the ashes taken out with both stoves going.
Fired up the plow and finally busted through a drift that we had been avoiding in our drive/park spot. From 3 1/2' on one end down to 10" at the other end....and maybe a bit over 60' long. Packed so dense, the plow would ride up over it as well as the truck. Had to attack it from the end instead of the side. Thank God for 4WD and snow plows!
Got the coals in the boiler burned down and enough hickory loaded to last 24-36 hours. I don't want to go out there tomorrow AM when it is -2.
Hey Ralphie. Did you move to Asia? Its only 2/4 here but west of us many places have tomorrow already.
Well... for an old guy I just move faster than most folks and get ahead of the game! The truth is because of the weather we didn't get the newspaper today. And being an old guy, without the newspaper I don't remember what day it is!
