Do they burn the "haystacks" you see in the background of the second picture? Around here they do if the logging slash isn't too close to a community.
Yes they do burn them, but closely watching the wind making sure it does not get into town, this was my load today, it was muddy going in and coming out. Rear total weight was 5150lbs loaded, empty,weight was 2250lbs with 26lbs of air in the new bags I had installed Thursday. The stability alone was worth the price of the bags. Keep in mind, this is heavy maple and Doug fir at 26% moisture in the wood. Notice the height of the fenders from the tires? It was a lot different last week when I cut the last load.
Airbags really make a difference. campinspecter has them on our Tacoma and when hauling a load of wet hemlock, you can't tell from the outside what is inside. They also are good when we are towing the RV.
Sometimes I air up to 80-90#. I've always been very curious as to my payload weight. W/ a huge bed full of oak, I don't think 26lbs of air would do much in my truck. What brand did you go with?
Just curious, how did you arrive at the weight? FWIW, I just installed some Timbren overload springs on my F250, 8' box. Don't know how much a load is but am guessing it is quite a bit?
campinspecter uses 60 lbs in the airbags and 60 lbs in the tires when he is hauling hemlock. The amount of wood is about a half a cord.
I run 50lbs in my tires, from the dust on the tires, might bump it up to 60lbs as well. And, for sure go with 60 in the bags as well.
