Everyone brings something to share. At some point a private thread will get going. That way it is easier to know what will be needed. We'll be there. Hope you can make it. Be nice to finally meet you in person.

Don't ride a bike up there after it has rained either. I've seen the people wiff some poo strips up their backs way back when we were there.

Yes, it's all cameras and a horribly pathetic website that can't determine whether or not you've been through their lovely states toll plazas despite pre registering your vehicle, until after the toll goes to a to a fine above what the cost would have normally been. Oh, and they eliminated the option to be able to pay via cash or card. If the actual traffic wasn't bad enough, their website, which isn't really compatible with smart phones is even worse.

Requested the time off so we will see. So, the tollways don't have the booths like they used to for paying? Does sound like a pain in the rear.

Correct. They did away with the booths during covid. You can pre register on the Illinois tollway site and they are supposed to log your tolls when you log in. Other states that do this, don't have a problem, because their website works. What I did, while driving solo, was text by voice to myself the toll plaza numbers and the dollar amounts. That way you have a time and date stamp in addition to the cost and the toll plaza. All hands free . Ideally, you have your co pilot write the info down, but that's not always possible.

Illinois toll system is a joke. We took actual pics of every booth & pmt on the way thru and they still claimed we didn't pay. Finally sent all the info certified mail to them so somebody had to sign for it & then disputed the mail amount & extra charges with the card company. Guy at the CC desk said this happens quite a bit. I just don't go there anymore. It's almost worth getting an I pass. I think their website still runs on dos.

No offense to any hoarders who might live there, but that state has been called Illanoying in my house for a long time now.

Can't be worse than PA. After the last time I travelled the turnpike for a ways I swear I won't do that again. I thought the gas prices were high there but the tools are almost out of site.

57 to Kankee Illinois exit then 17 to 114 to 10 and up 65 skips Chicago and is a nice country drive and is a straight shot.

Pete, that would be too far south as she would be coming across on I-80. Not much of a drop south to 30 then to 65. 30 is not Interstate but I've never had a problem with this.

Yet I've talked to several folks lately and they say not a problem any more just staying on 80.
