I don’t see a problem with that….. I’d rather that my friends spend more of their money on beer for me when I visit…. Now if they are not friends, they can turn the thermostat up to 90 and get a visit from the propane truck twice a week!! Especially if my friend is the propane truck driver who burns wood and uses his extra money for beer for me!!!
I’m A propane guy too…. I also heat with wood…but the more propane people buy, the better my bank account is but no beer buying…. Drank my lifetime supply by age 24….
Ok gentlemen…. Here is a fair warning…. FILL YOUR TANKS NOW !!!! It’s looking like it may get ugly within the next month or so.
My guy filled my 500 gal tank Jan 3rd. He could only get 203 gals in. $1.50 per gal. edit That is not a current off the truck price. I booked in early summer.
I filled some 100 lb tanks this morning and no price increase there yet. If I had went into town for it the cost would have been around $70 more. Sounds like greed to me.
We only use lp for cooking thank God, but they sure do stick in in me for the once a year fillup of our little tank. Luckily that comes in the summer.
What size tank do you have? We only use our propane for the stove cooktop. I am able to 100 lbs take the tank, that we own, to get it refilled for a reasonable price as opposed to having a propane company deliver.. the propane lasts 1-2 years. the prior owner used a propane company. I took that tank after moving in and delivered it to the propane company thus ending the contract with them. I can also hook up a 20 lbs tank to the house if needed in an emergency.
If I owned a fleet of propane delivery trucks I'd have an I Did That! sticker pointing to the meter on every one of them.
Same thing here fuelrod Small tank and it cost just over 4 per gallon a couple months ago. The less you use the more they charge.
Luckily our local LP supplier doesn't do that. It's the same whether we use 50 gallons or 1,500 gallons a year. We are even using their tank.
Do you guys get charged 'rent' on their tanks if you don't use enough of their LP? Commie ba$terds started charging me that the last few years..
We don’t charge a rental fee… but if you don’t use enough we will downsize the tank… or no usage we pick up tank. There are costs involved for us to supply a tank, regulators, and the liability insurance. The price on supplies has gone nuts lately. A 500 gallon tank was about $500 5 years ago… now they are $2500 IF YOU CAN FIND ONE !!! 100’ 1/2” copper tube… $50 2 years ago… now $180 It’s just getting dumb….
They just charge $0.05 more per gallon. We typically use ~150 gallons a year between our clothes drier, water heater and what little bit the LP furnace runs. So costs us ~$7.50 a year to not have to buy a tank.
I used to have a half dozen 100# "bottles" as we used to call them. Slowly I gave up on punching in new inspection dates (cheating) as I was getting resistance from the places that I took them to for filling. Since I use so little propane, I just surrendered to using a small tank (about 40" tall x 20" across) and pay them an inflated price for the gas. Actually, my last delivery was around $60-70 and I don't hold any grudge (price) against them for sending a truck and driver for my little BS order.
I would hear how low LP was on the radio and call to inquire (years ago). What size tank was their question. Since I only needed a 100gallon tank at the cottage, the price was always higher. "Minimum purchase required" sort of thing.
I filled two weeks ago. 490 gallons at $1.62 contracted price and own my tank. The gas company made an error and forgot about my contract and the invoice stated $1.99 per gallon. They of course made the correction, but informed me $1.99 was the current price outside of a contract. (Rural southern Wisconsin)
