Wow 5 dollars. Nice score. Way to go. Does that say MS 450 on the top cover? I was not aware they made such a model.
1 foot at my place, more like 2 feet elsewhere. Sustained 60mph winds, gusts to 75. Looking forward to blow downs!
Looks like for some interesting cutting conditions there. Ive cut in the snow but not a blizzard. Post some pics if you get any blowdowns.
That's what I thought also, but it just was not clicking with me. It is a MS460 S/N 166505139 so not sure how old. Definitely needs some work but should be a runner.
Saw has great compression but haven't pulled the muffler yet. As I met up with a friend yesterday who considers himself the "Chainsaw Whisperer" on OPE I let him have it to look over. I did start it but goes runs close to WOT. He said it has a fuel leak, spark plug was loose, and handle is bent so far. Throttle doesn't feel right so hoping the linkage is messed up. Can't tell from the picture but the back handle does look like it could be bent, or the picture angle. Filter area was clean as a whistle so I don't think the saw was abused, just ran. Anyone have a source for parts as I haven't done anything on EBay for years? Plan is getting it running, but my 25" bar on it and gift it to Lefty to replace his 044 that was damaged in the fire, and yes, I know I should keep it.
bought this saw and an 046 both at a garage sale for 300$, this saw had a 25” bar on it and the 046 has since been sold.
The $5 MS460 runs! Edwin replaced carb, bar studs and some smalls. It was obvious that the saw had been in for repair as impulse hose was off, loose bolts, etc. It does have a couple missing fins on the chain side and may need a clutch as the chain creeps some. Also, the brake is not working but Lefty doesn't use it. I threw my 24" bar on and buried it in an old white oak and purred like a tiger. I think it will be an excelent replacement for the 044 he lost in the fire. He was not around so plans on trying it out tomorrow and will report back. Also Edwin is going to get me a list of repairs he made. I think the bar looks good on it but will be taking it back if I find my used Stihl 25" bar.
