  That also illustrates transplants from southern states to the Rockies, or they all find the same slick spot to crash on

Got up at 5am and checked the outside thermometer... - 5 (f). Coldest it's been here yet. No precip however, unlike the east coast. Messaged my buddy in Bangor, no precip yet but it's coming. He's ready, JD is fueled up and hot lined. Genny is full of gas just in case.

I'm amazed the stove is holding the ambient in here at 68 but it's working hard, real hard. The central furnace took a dump Thursday, ordered a new brain box, came yesterday, fantastic service from Appliance Repair Parts.com. Hope it fits, lol.

Gonna need a new furnace, we don't use it very often but we still need it anyway. Summertime install. it's 25 years old, well past it's useful life expectancy.

Seems as though furnaces are crapping out around here. Neighbor's furnace took a dump and so did the one in her rental (she's a slum landlord like I am). My rentals are ok so far. She only has one, I have 3.

I'll need to fire up one of the diesel tractors today and refill the cans with pellet-corn mix. That should be a joy, diesels don't like to go when it's this cold out and neither are plugged in, no juice in the big barn. Both have block heaters but no power equals no heat in the engines.

Time for a cup of coffee and get motivated.

I like to real cold temps however. Kills off the overwintering bug larvae and lessens my pesticide application this summer. Input wise, everything has just about doubled, especially urea which is actually made from natural gas. Not sure how, but it is and the price per ton has doubled from last year.

You got that right. 2" here, and the place is shut down.

On a serious note, hope everyone is warm, has alternate power strategies for outages, and takes it easy on clean-up. And of course, plenty of ingredients for french toast. :flipeggs::beerbbq:

If the engines are a precup type diesel ...then a few hits to the glow plugs and they should go.

Don't want to use any MA STARTLY on a precup engine....DI....A few squirts of Ma will usually gitterdone.

Up at 530 expecting the end of the world as promised only to find 1/4" and snow lazily drifting down. The local news just won't shut up about it with their incessant alarmist coverage. Not sure I would even have a G.D. TV if I had it my way...

Meanwhile, I went out and lit the pellet stove in the garage and working on my second mug of 8 O'clock while it warms up enough out there to do some reloading. Yawn...

Got up at 6:15 this morning and hadnt started yet (surprised as it was supposed to have been well into the storm by then) -waited till 7am when they opened and called the New Durham general store for a breakfast burrito (these are awesome here) so no french toast this morning. Maybe for dinner.

Been sn*wing since about 7ish but still very light.

    Bomb Cyclone !!!

Add to the overused and over dramatic phrases that need to go away along with "due to an abundance of caution".

Hard to tell how much white stuff has fallen with the wind blowing. Doesn't look like more than 4" here in the mid hudson valley. 21 deg. and strong steady wind means I will be watching TV and computer browsing all day today. I have seen a few near 29 mph gusts on the weather station. Birds are hitting the feeders hard.

I saw their "definition" of that being aired yesterday so we could all be enlightened with their Omnipotence.

I'm like...what?.. WTF is THAT now? People never get tired of inventing new ways of proving their own stupidity.
