Looks like Miz Carol and I are going to invade Michigan again. Got my vacation on the calendar. Qe will probably spend the whole week exploring. I want to go see the big bridge and the big boats up north...

It's an impressive bridge. The longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere actually.

    Not when there's a 45mph crosswind!
    :hair:

    And you're pulling a box trailer:startled:

No thank you! They still allowed you to cross it then? I know they shut it down when the weather makes it unsafe.

Posted/reduced speed limit, single lane, but yes.

try 25 mph winds on a Honda goldwing towing a motorcycle camper. My uncle said never again…

they’re loathe to shut that bridge down. It’s usually an extreme situation for it to be entirely shut down. They usually just close the outer lanes and make folks travel across single file @ 25mph.

I’ve lived in Michigan most of my life been to the bridge 3 times and watched it sway back and forth. Turned around and went home.
If i want to go to the up its will be thru Wisconsin or maybe Canada.

He said the wind was such that it was trying to blow him and my aunt off the bridge, and you know how wonky driving on that cheese grate in the center lane can be so he was in the outer lane. He said every time there would be a big gust they tilted / toward the “railing” and blue water:hair:

No thanks. The cheese grater on the Grand Haven bridge was bad enough back when I rode. Can't imagine having to choose between that or blowing off the bridge. Hellz naw!

Iirc it was raining also. I feel like he had some sort of an emergency reason for needing to get across.

I have been across the bridge twice, went and picked up a horse just outside of detroit, MI. Going across it to get there wasn't bad at all, (was driving a 2wd long box, extended cab with a 30 something ft 5 horse trailer) then on the way back I hit a snow storm right before the bridge, couldn't see much going back across the bridge.

Thinking about it but drive takes me past Chicago. I'm always happy to avoid that area but we will see. Could bring the new spitter if needed.
