We're heading down to 12 for a low, the Liberty is loaded with Ironwood and Maple along with the pellet stove going in the other corner on a medium feed rate.

I didn't have a fire in the wood stove last night, I just ran the pellet stove and we had a low of -20 so I was playing catch up today, it's 21 out with a temp of 72 up here.

9 degrees with a stiff wind. Maple and Beech in the Wood Gun. Wind chills predicted to be -30 to -45 today. A warning is out for them.

I had a strange experience yesterday. Temperature was in the teens with a strong south wind. I couldn't get the pipe temperature above 200. The chimney is block about 15 feet tall on the exterior of south end of house. I thought I must have some blockage even though I had checked and cleaned about a week before Christmas. No big build ups at that time either. I took the pipe apart and cleaned the small amount of soot from it and the thimble. I checked the chimney and found virtually nothing. I reassembled and lit a fire. Still wouldn't draw nicely. No back puffing either time so no downdraft. I had one more idea. I closed the draft half way and left it for about 15 minutes. Opened the draft wide open and it took off nicely putting the stack temp well into the operating zone. The only thing I can figure is the upper part of the chimney was so cold it was letting the smoke generated by full draft out slower than it was produced.

24 out and 25 for a high. 70 in and just loaded ash and cherry. Cold for a few more days then looks like a slight warmup. Light snow coming down now. Leg is starting to get a smidge more limber but still a bit of swelling.

Woke to 28/71. The back 1/3rd of my firebox was about 12" worth of glowing red coals. :fire: In went 2 big shorts of red oak and the draft slid 1/4 open. Wife should be warm in no time.

29 now....and another day of falling temperatures. I don't remember ever having this many nights with temperatures rising and days with temperatures falling. Seems like it is a once a week thing now.

Somebody forgot to turn the boiler back on after loading last night....and the water got down to 113. It's hard at work getting back up to temp right now.

28 with light snow for the next few hours. Supposed to be a big storm later on tonight through tomorrow. Anywhere from 0.001ā€ to 27’ of snow. :D I’m burning some large noodled red maple chunks and a couple splits of apple for the time being.

We had 5.4 this morning after the first cup of coffee, I ran the pellet and the wood stove overnight so we woke up to a temp of 72 in the living room and 68 in the bedroom, I'll take that heating from the basement.

We're just burning the wood stove and the temps up here are still 72 and the bedroom still at 68.
