Needed a break from driving the desk today, so on my lunch break I ran over to the "not Ace" hardware not far from my day job. They had the Channellock brand 4.5# splitting maul. Seemed like it was similar to the Fiskars, and all I have is a Harbor Freight 8# maul, which is overkill for all the 4-6" limbs I need to split Y'all have any thoughts? It was $39.99 at the local hardware. 4-1/2 lb Rapid Maul - Channellock - UnoClean
Looks OK. Buy it and try it out and give us a review. Might have to change your avatar to a guinea pig though.
They have a factory in Pennsylvania, wonder where this maul is made. Nothing on the Channellock website. Edit: found it on channellockproducts.com Seems they separate the US made products from the rest with a different website.
Does it have a no questions asked lifetime warranty like the fiskars? Pretty spendy if not. I’ve used that warranty on a couple fiskars products. One of them I found in a dumpster…
don't like the profile of those splitters. The initial angle is too thin and it gets stuck a lot in hardwood.
