That's really the only complaint I've heard about them. Their wifi controllers can act a little wonky sometimes. But their customer service (under normal circumstances lol) is awesome!
There's a gap in the hopper end between the grease plate and that bracket with the tan dust on it. The grease plate or broiler plate is curved half moon shape....the bracket is flat,so quite a gap there. The hot air goes thru the gap and hits the temp sensor that controls the pit.....fooling the controller thinking the pit is hot when it's not...so it shuts the auger off.
Sub zero wind chills right now I need more stable atmosphere before I do any more mods or I'm just chasing my tail.
Have you incorporated an insulating blanket into your operation? Perhaps a three sided shelter that weather vanes away from the prevailing wind to put your cooking device in with the open side having an insulating drop down curtain? Maybe something like the clear plastic barrier strips that places use to hold cold air in their freezers.. spitballing here.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not gonna go that far with it....I'll use my insulated pit today, the pit boss will be my fair weather friend
