I finally got around to testing the 665 and my 362C-M today. After seeing Chvymn99 results, I had to see for myself. His 665 beat a ported 562xp. Not by much. But by a little. :)

Both saws had new Stihl RS chains.. Brand new. Stihl had an 18" Sugi bar and 7 pin rim and Solo had 20" Forester bar and 7 pin rim.

The Cant has gotten considerably harder. I have a new 10" x 10" x 10' Cant that will be done soon. :)

The results? Well? See for yourself. I will post the times I got from watching the video with the stopwatch in a bit. :dex:

Steven, open that box up buddy!! These are something special! !

Nice comparison, love the salute to the monkey in the beginning. Did you get the times yet?

Yeah. I timed them before I uploaded to YouTube.

    MS 362C-M
    1- 6.8 sec
    2- 6.1 sec
    3- 6.2 sec

    Solo 665
    1- 6.2 sec
    2- 5.7 sec
    3- 5.5 sec

The ported 362C-M is an amazing saw. . But I think it goes to show just how great the 65 cc Solo is. Mine has about 2.5 tanks through it and no mods at all. All stock. .

About 2.5 tanks and the Stihl about 5-6 tanks. Neither are fully broken in. IMO

Stock vs ported, let them both break in, then run your test again. Sometimes it is best to run what you have before porting, otherwise you have no idea what your money is getting you.

The 665 is a Torque Monster! The 362 can be leaned on, but the 665 is hard to stop the chain.

I love my C-M saws and I am a die hard Stihlhead! But this Solo is beginning to tug at my heart strings! :D

@bryanr2 Open up that Solo box and get on @Mastermind to get to work!! :dex:

The ported saw has more run time as is. I am not taking away from the 362C-M. It's a great saw and runs phenomenal. The 665 has less time and quicker in the cut. The C-M I tach'd at 14,350 was the highest reading I seen on my Tach. The Solo is still under 13,000 (stock tune).

I will test them again... And probably again, and again, and again. . :dex: I love running them both. I may run the 441 and 460 against one another tomorrow. To show everyone how much harder that Cant is now, than it was at the GTG. It was 2 days old at the GTG. It's 3 months old now. :)

I have a stock 562. But was to lazy to put the same bar and chain on it from the 665. I ran a brand new Woodland Pro chain on it and it was around 9-10 seconds.

FWIW; The performance differences between the Dolkitas and the Solos came about because Makita after purchasing the Dolmar brand did not want Solo to distribute in the USA. So, Solo got pizzed off and designed an all-out saw that would out perform anything that Dolkita was bringing into the USA. Hence, 665,675 and 681! Enjoy your saws guys!

I did push some fuel thru my fingerported 262xp today and "Holy Batman" I think it is the ultimate 60cc saw. Like it better than the MM 562xpw i had and either ported 359.

Thx Dex for taking the time to share that with us.

I'm not familiar with the Solo 665, bulk wise would you say it would be more comparable to ms461?

Specs on Solo's site show the 681 to be lighter than the 665.?
    Typo?
