I just learned about this the other day. GENIUS!! We need them out here!!

They're cluttering up swaths of land with wind turbine farms (which we all know the cons and poor ROI on them) and then the broken blades are filling our landfills beyond the trash.

You always have to pay to play...

Far as FB marketplace, that is where I bought my last one (multifuel stove) I put in the shop. Had to refurb it however. People tend to beat the hell out of them and are pretty poor at cleaning too...

Lot of junk on there just like CL.

I find my best deals for pellets on CL still. They are fewer and farther between than it used to be though. Some people post both places and those of FBM, knowing they have a larger audience, normally post higher prices. On FBM I have to scroll thru hundreds of dealer ads to find the 1 or 2 from individuals - and many times they aren't even within 50 miles of me. FB will show me ad in the middle of MA or even NY as "near" me. but then put stuff not 20 miles away as "outside my area". Also, people don't understand the "will ship to you" setting is a default and don't turn it off, so those are all in the way too (or - if I filter them out, it won't show me something right next door that inside the ad says pick up only).

Don't get me wrong, I've found and bought stuff on FBM, but it is a more irritating process than CL. I also admit that the communication, if it is started, is a whole lot easier using messenger rather than an email that sometimes gets put into the junk folder. Eh, they both irritate me to some degree - as just about anything ;)

I like that term Catio. I guess with 8 in the house plus the pup, we qualify as well. Never been all that fond of felines, I'm a dog person but my wife tends to their needs and keeps the litter boxes mostly tidy. Cats are real good at staying personally tidy but are pigs about everything else and pukers too. Have to be extra careful when I get up in the morning (as I get up before my wife does) and walking to the coffee pot is usually an adventure not stepping in a puke pile in the kitchen. Nothing better than stepping in cold puke in your sock feet to start the day off right....

My philosophy about that is... I ain't gonna be around to worry about it anyway and the way current events are going, might not be here all that long anyway.

I might add that it's apparent to me that the crappier the unit is (and looks) the more people ask for them. I never pay asking price anyway. More fun to dicker them down and it's easy to tell a frustrated ex stove person because they are usually selling the venting and fuel along with the unit. As of late, there are some real bombs on both FB marketplace and CL.

It's snowing here btw and a bit warmer. In the upper 20's presently Have the stove shut down, Sunday is clean time on the central furnace presently sucking down propane.

We are pretty much looking for that style/look ourselves. A cast iron stove just has that eye appeal we are looking for seeing its going to be out in the open and not a cella dweller.

So I my except an XXV style Harman if the price tickles the purse string a wee bit(I won't spend more than $1K). Otherwise we are trying to stay under $750 for a cast stove.

We’re doing an absolute 43. Low price it is not, but it’s a long term thing. We’re about 10 years on our insert.

The a43 has some options to quiet it down more so than the insert, and we’ll get our fireplace back.

The wife likes both of those.

CleanFire , thanks for the pellet bag suggestion on the sand, worked awesome !!!

2 trips to the transfer station to get sand (busy spot as so many needed to sand driveways) and driveway is well covered now.

Unfortunately, it has salt in it but I had no option this time to find saltless sand. Possibly getting light sn*w showers Tuesday and this ice isnt going anywhere on its own even with full sunshine.

2nd trip leaves me with a full bucket and 2 pellet bags partially filled if I need it. Hopefully not as I really dislike the salt plus the mess that the sand leaves behind.

Saturday Morning-put what I had just in front of garage a few nights ago

Cats (and dogs) love the XXV-good luck as that would be a great stove especially if $1K or under  Great stove for a living area as its only warm to the touch and fairly quiet as well.

I've been wanting to try this for years. Decided to pay a premium on zon to try it. One of these days I'll get a hold of some moxie.

As a native”Mainah” my childhood was filled with Saturday nights and baked beans with brown bread. Only recently was the Old B&M factory and iconic chimney in Portland torn down…

    Mmmmmm.... Warm buttered brown bread....

I know it's not for everybody, or if it's still available but you could also get it with raisins which I prefer.

B&M was a fitting name. On a steady diet of that, BM's are frequent, runny and stinky too...

I'm with you on a cast stove (well at least the exterior as all of them will have fabricated steel fire boxes). Cast holds the heat better and looks better too but, alas, my stoves are 100% fabricated weldments with a cast in China door... Not a bad casting either except the molded in 'Made in China' wording. Least it's on the inside where you cannot see it.

The Quad 1000 in the basement apartment is needing a new Thermocouple cover tube (White ceramic tube...proof of fire) and Quadrafire has shortened the tube length from 6" to 3" ...The short ones are just too short.....Without buying a new bracket $$$$$$$ and fooling with things the short tube is not gonna do the job.
I called the mfg.....nope...old style no longer available.

    Sooooooooooo
Started searching the net for industrial mfg that make T couple tubes......

    "Geo Corp"
    (419) 433-1101 (Andrew)
    Tube is 5/16" ID X 1/2" OD X 6" LONG (Alumina ceramic)
They were happy to get me four spiffy new tubes on the way.

A bit more $$$ than the factory stuff (Made in huge quantities)
    $25 each....still reasonable.....

The tube that is in the stove is the original from 1994 when the stove was installed.
28 years......Not at all bad for a consumable item......

Considering that the stove is the only heat in the apartment and the usage it gets.

Our Quad upstairs may get a total run time of a couple days or so every year.....If we don't get a power outage that stove sits quietly and does nothing.
Exception would be if we get some blistering azz cold (Near zero F ) A rarity....

The T couple cover burnt off the stove in the apartment last year....Sadly we did not catch it until the T couple failed and the stove quit....
The after market T couples are wired backwards.....(Had to swap position of the RED and YELLOW wires to make the controller happy)

I swapped the parts from our stove to get it running......Then I ordered new Ceramic covers for the parts box....
dammed things were too short......I made it work but it is not the best set up.

Soooooo....in a week or so.....will have new parts the proper size.

I did see it with raisins also but the price was even more. Gotta start somewhere anyway.

I'm guessing you east coaster grocery stores probably have this on the shelves for 3 bucks or less?
