I posted a few pictures in the Sawyer Forum. Most of my logs I mill into lumber to sell and my idea is to cut & split the slab to sell for bonfire wood (we live in a very tourist oriented area). We will see how that all works out. Our house came with a pellet stove & furnace, but I grew up with VC woodstoves my whole life and I have an Encore waiting to go in, so eventually I will be selling the pellet stoves and the good stuff (firewood) and supplementing the NG heat with the shorts and uglies. The title of the thread is because no matter how hard I try, everything I do is a mess, and my 4 year old tells me so.... also my IG and Youtube name (if I ever get around to posting)
Yea, coworker is clearing land for a pole barn about 6 miles away down a dirt road. So I was taking the trailer and tractor over to get the logs. Took about 8-9 trips and only cost me fuel and a broken hand... There are a few BL logs just past the oak, followed by some cherry, and red & white pine. There is a third helper, but she must have been napping the day of that picture.
Yes….more details on broken hand! I have been close so many times with rolling logs, trailer doors, falling rounds etc…..but I just smashed a toe thus far!!!!
All I can say is I somehow got careless, because my coworker and I still don't know how/ what happened. Near as I figure, I had the log on the loader forks off the ground, I had back cut the bottom and was bucking it to length. As soon as the saw cut through the logged dropped as expected, but it rolled toward me, I don't know why, maybe angle of the cut caused it to roll? Either way it rolled, grabbed the saw on the way down and landed on my hand, on the saw, it pushed my hand into the chain brake, into the muffler, which melted through, and left me some nice burns across my fingers as well. Another odd thing, is that since the side that dropped was to my right, it should have been on the "clear side" of the saw. My coworker grabbed the cant hook and got the log off quick enough, as soon as the queasy stomach hit I knew it was broken. Live and learn, glad it wasn't worse, a good reminder to keep your wits about you.
Hope it's not he hand used for "paperwork".....might be a bit of a learning curve going on if it is! Great pics!
