20220121_170505.jpg Is this stuff pretty uncommon? I didnt even know Stihl made 058 guage chain till today. Walked into a dealer in Maryland and they had it on rolls. Had them make two 93DL for the 2095.

I run the rs chains on everything , well I guess I can't say everything since I have an MS170 and I don't think they make it for that one.

    Everything else gets the RS.
I bought a Husky550xp and switched from their factory chain to the Stihl RS and what a difference ; really helped that saw come to life.

I knew the RS was good chain. I just didnt expect to find it in 058 guage. My 7910 and 2095 both run 058. Even the husky dealers around here only have 050 in stock.

Take a look at this chart on the left. Gives you some sort of idea what they have available. Put your letter and numbers together to see what fits your saw. then google that and you should be able to see what is available. [IMG]

058 seems to be falling by the wayside most manufacturers are switching to 050 or 063 even one of my chain suppliers has stopped carrying it . Jonsered was a big user of 058 and usually dolmar was 050 I did not sell any dolmars with factory 058 stihl rs is good chain I sell mostly oregon exl now everybody seems to like it I also carry the husky x cut which I put on one of my saws and I like itI am surprised a stihl dealer would even stock 058 JB

So was I. I thought if I found any 058 it would be at a husky dealer. My 7910 came with an 058 husqvarna bar on it. I picked it up used from Brett/chipper1 so don't know how it ended up with the 058 setup.

yes off and on husky used 058 but they seem to have gone to all 050 now you can still order with 058 but all my stock order saws have been 050 and as to the dolmar the person probably needed a bar and that is what they had in stock JB

Not to cause a derail….. but kind of a related question, and maybe even quite obvious to some. But what are the pros and cons of 50 versus 58 gauge chain. I have all Husqvarna saws and have always run 50 ga. Not looking for a reason to change as I think I’m getting along just fine. Just curious about the differences between them

I don't know the real answer. But in my mind the 058 or 063 would oil better on a long bar due to the wider bar grove. Other then that I don't know that there would be many advantages.
