A year ago i got snowed in before Christmas. Too much on the ground and after a couple days i was a couch potato. It melted by new years and i made up for it. I scrounged close to TEN (yes ten) cord of wood in January. More snow in February, but i was able to process some, but not hoard. I made up for it after.
Snowing here now. Ending soon. Just over an inch. Cant work, work so ill head to my storage and run the hydro. PLENTY of rounds waiting for me.
Chud what bark is that? I cant place it. Very cool looking.

It’s an Oak bark, maybe black. I’d sure like to find out what those ripples are. I’m sure there are matching indentations in the wood, so maybe lenticels.

Funny you say that because my wife and daughter have it too and I don't think I've had it. If I did its what I thought was a mild cold a few weeks ago.

This is the time of year to be outdoors! No bugs, no humidity, no mud & no tourists. What more could you want? Oh wait, how about three months off work, that would do it.

Use to have the winter months off work...merchant sailor on the Great Lakes. Working in the Gulf of Mexico now like it much better. No winter lay off but easier work

I'm tired of it too, have 2' hard packed and iced over in front of the front door and garage. Husband used a chainsaw for tire tracks to get the truck out but the front door is useless for a couple weeks now. Maybe he can get to the door this weekend. Good news is we had lots of sunshine today

I haven't done a search for old existing threads, and I don't want to hijack this thread, but maybe that would be a good idea for a thread somewhere to have members post some pics of their ATV/UTV setups to give others an idea of how they carry their firewood processing gear.

But it can be a looong 59 days. Seems like we always get teased with spring just to get more cold and/or snow to prolong it another week are two.

For you maybe... If we didn't have the 4wd tractor we'd be screwed feeding cows. Mud bog here...even with a bit of snow and ice laying around.

That’s sad! My grandparents lived in SD and I can’t remember a Xmas without snowmobiles and deep snow, but that was the 70’s and 80’s. I know it’s different now.
The snow can’t gtfo of NC fast enough for me. Supposed to get more tonight.

Thank God it was all east of me. It won’t hurt my feelings if they are wrong about tonight too. I need things to dry out.
