I like that. New splitter came with one on it, but once you get use to a full-size table that can be loaded up you kind of get spoiled. When working alone, idle down the motor, load up the table, grab a drink, crank up the motor and away you go.

That is a nice feature that the northstar splitters have.. when the wedge retracts, it hits a lever that idles down the engine automatically. When you pull the hydraulic lever to push the wedge back out, the idle goes back up.

Wasnt sure if you were aware of that feature or not.

I did see that and we use to have an old Lickity-Split that had that feature. I wish the CountryLine and Husky had it, but oh-well. At least the Köhler motors are somewhat quiet. Also, Northern Tool doesn't seem to stock any here and I wanted to avoid shipping charges and wait.

    buzz-saw,
Any small engine I’ve been around is noisy enough themselves, but by running the exhaust away from me and out the other side made a huge difference.

I use a Work Mate bench that I put next to the splitter. It is a good place to put a half round on while working on the other half.

Went out to Lefty's and helped him with his fire damaged trailer so he could get it to a shop for repairs. After that I used the old Husky 35 ton to split some wood for Edwin (Wood Doctor) on OPE. The splitter is Technically mine purchased in 2009. Started on first pull and purred like an angry kitten but slow. Love the big log tables.

    Nice equipment yamadog.

Tractor setup nice with the skidder on the back and I do see the saw mounted there.
    Updated splitter is awesome.

Great looking splitter and tractor. How many cord do you process a year?

Tried out the splitter today. Pluses, started easy, but a little cold blooded (high 20's), way faster than I am used to, working by myself I had trouble keeping up at close to full throttle, and only some nightmare elm slowed it down. Downside, the table is much smaller than I am used to and will have to work on that. Also, the axle/wheels are shifted more in the work area by maybe 8" so they are in the way but will get used to it. Another issue with the axle shift makes the tongue weight higher. About all I can do to move it around solo. Overall, I think it is a nice splitter for the price and should last for many years.

It will get some taking use too. Our old splitter was 30 sec cycle time...lol...
I couldn't believe how fast it was when we got it, now it almost seems slow sometimes. Miz Carol wouldn't run it for a month...
The oil tank is close to your leg, I found it several times during the summer with shorts on...:headbang::picard:...it gets your attention.
I like the way the wedge slices through knots and stringy wood. Take a file or flap disc on grinder and give the edge a touch up...
It is heavy on the tongue, but it us bigger that what you had. I've seen a dolly somewhere that will fit under the tongue and make moving it alot easier.
Can't wait to see more pictures of it in action
