Been a cold azz weekend for sure but tomorrow morning weather is really going to suk getting to work.

Forecast is 2" per hour at 7am. Shouldn't be many, if any others on the road so should be OK, just slow.

Then turns to rain (after all this cold :loco: ) making for one hel l of a cleanup after work.:doh:

The storm is very disappointing. I’d have loved if we had a bunch of snow. Instead it’s going to turn to rain.

I went and got a 2500 watt space heater for the front porch area(AKA catio) where the laundry is located. So far its keeping it above freezing.

I'll be prepping for the stove install right after I clean up the mess thats supposed to happen tomorrow. And then the basement stove install. Dino juice price went up again and I don't want to play that card anymore.

Glad you were able to clear ice out with a "minimum" of fuss. Sounds like it could have been worse - translating into a bigger PITA.

Yeah, indoor thermometers don't go low enough, I use a Therm Pro indoor/outdoor thermometer in the garage. Once it hits the 35* mark (last week - pic is from a couple of weeks ago), I start up the Therm Guard.

I stuck the little one I had kicking around that I monitored the humidity levels which is similar to your therm pro. I didn't realize the stats only went to 40ºF

I'd eventually like to get a weather station of sorts that I can monitor all the rooms and area's plus the outside from my desk.

Got up at 3:25 am and checked outside-nothing

5:15, got up for work and maybe half an inch. Its picked up now and wunderground showing slightly less rain before it ends this afternoon.

Between the weather and MLK day, hoping to get out of work early and get this crud cleaned up before it freezes. Temps look good to get that done.

Time to get on the road and get to work shortly.

If you run in the Chili Bowl for any number of years, you'll get on your head at least once.

Thanks B, if that copper line cracked, then it would have been 'a whole other thing' yesterday. The Wagner 915 Steamer actually saved the day - hooked up a piece of short hose (needed a new hose anyway) to the cold water shutoff, had a 5 gal. Homey D pail handy, and steamed the outside / inside of the pipe ... until the ice was cleared. Even on low, the Heat Gun is 550*F at the nozzle outlet: it was getting too dicey to keep using at the floor line. The steamer worked better, and was much safer.

    Safe travels today G.

I'm glad that is working JT, the tiny "Honeywell 360" circular heater we stuck out there is vastly under-powered for those rooms. The oil-filled 'radiator' style heater we have been using: Betsy bought that in Nursing school, a zillion years ago. I need to pull the front switch panel and check wiring on it, it's on the list today.

The Englander 25-PDVC is 'almost' ready for install, but it's a large footprint in that tiny area, I keep deferring the install / making 'some excuse' to myself each year.. So the stove sits there taking up space, collecting dust. I have to give it some thought today on what we're doing.

I do know I'm installing the GFCI outlet and that water pipe Heat Cable this morning, like starting after another cup of Java. 'Cause life is too short to have plumbing fun at negative temps: been there, done that, getting too old for that **it. (That steamer saved my Bacon yesterday.) :heidi:

About 4" white stuff here, currently rain/snow mix, windy as heck.

At least I get to play with the sn*wblower later. ... * If I'm not consumed by whatever monster is living under the house, in the crawlspace area. :zip:

Have a fun and safe day all.

Well, that was a fun ride.

More vehicles on the road than expected but they were all pickup trucks and driving appropriately-4WD hi was in order on Rte 11 otherwise the truck wouldnt stay straight in 4WD Auto with all the unplowed snow and whiteout condition.

But this is what I learned to drive in many years ago. Back then we all drove old tanks and this chit was a blast to drive in and have fun. Far less vehicles on the roads back then too. Having fun in this type of weather also taught us how to handle it properly. :BrianK:

Been there, went through that yesterday, but we had an additional slam of a LOT of sleet....probably the most I've ever seen in one continuous event....... must have "sleeted" for 5-6 hours....amazing. And also very windy. BUT, thankful that we got very little, if any, freezing rain. If we had gotten what the forecasters called for, THAT would have been disastrous here. :faint:
As for the sn*w, we probably really only got about 2 1/2-3".

That sleet ain't no joke either Pete, and the racket it makes is gawd awful. Glad the freezing rain missed your area. We've had (2) such events here so far this season, and both sucked. Ice defeats all, except Fire. Or Valyrian Steel. (GOT reference.)

GFCI outlet install is off for today - the Boss said "Hmm, No." after I told her we'd be cutting off the Bathroom, Bedroom, and Laundry room circuits, as part of the process. The joys of old home ownership.

And still trying to figure out a way to enlarge the opening the cold water pipe runs through, without pulling the pipe, isn't going well - there is almost 2" solid decking in-between the upstairs <-> and downstairs crawlspace. I'm going to have to disconnect & pull the cold water pipe, and enlarge the hole w/ a drill bit to 'slip-fit' the heater cable: or it's going to look like the "Holland Tunnel" by the time I'm done.

Gotta get busy w/ WFH, on-site at the office tomorrow, meetings w/ the big bosses. See 'ya all later.

Can you get to it with a drill? Drill a bunch of small holes(1/4") then chisel the wood out. And they do make long dtill bits.
