Not bad here the last couple days...

30's during the day, 20's at night. Stove is basically idling most of the time. I'm sure that will change shortly. It is wintertime in Michigan.

 

In reality, I prefer below freezing temps for a long period as it kills off bugs that I have to spray for during the growing season and pesticides have went through the roof. So have herbicides. In fact every input has increased in cost appreciably. No bargains anymore.

Just ordered a 2 gallon jug of 2-4-d-(B) and last year it was 50 bucks. This year it's 100 bucks. Same with 46 urea. Last year was 19 bucks a sack, this year it's 30. Least I have half a skid left in the barn.

 

Apparently a big weather event is heading our way Sunday night/Monday. Time to get the snow blower prepped.

 

getting a might chilly here in SE Michigan again tonight. Down to 18 and windy so the stove is chugging along again and the humidifier is sucking down bottled water. High tomorrow is supposed to be 14. I'm excited, not.

Well, initial huge ice storm predicted for our area has changed. Initially, they were warning of 1/2- 3/4" of ice. That would be catastrophic here. It seems now, that they are calling for just a "wintry mix"....still calling for 3-5" of sn*w, but I'll take that over ice ANY day.

 

Problem with living south of the Mason-Dixon line is, if there is inclement weather, road crews are ill equipped to deal with it and drivers use no common sense. I remember years ago I was outside Atlanta and they had a freezing rain event and every road was a sheet of ice and looked like a junkyard too and nary a salt shaker in sight. I stayed at the motel until the carnage was over.

Up here, we have salt trucks and plows, even if the drivers here don't have any sense either. First storm here always turns into a demo derby. keeps the bump shops busy. me, I stay home.

 

Got a bit lower than 14. It's 2 above right now. 14 would be Tee shirt weather compared to 2.
