I saw that too and said red oak. Plus the bark looked like oak.

Maybe he'll invite you and a few Huskies over to tackle that big trunk. :saw: ;)

Nice job on falling it. Like everyone else has said, some great firewood there. Congrats.

Nice work. Post the video if you can. I’d like to see that.
How many cords do you think that big fella will add up to?

Nice tree & good work for sure! Could I very politely suggest a helmet & chaps though. I'm not safety Sally by a long shot, but those two items can save a lot of time & money when running a saw. That tree will make some great heat in the future for sure, well done!

I'm not trying to be critical but from the picture, it looks like your back cut ends up almost level with the bottom of your wedge. If that's not the case, I apologize. But, if it is, you should really try to have it be a few inches higher as it gives you more control in the direction of felling.
Lots of work cut out for you now!

You are correct, was closer than I like and I goofed. Big tree and too short a bar. I was able to adjust it and we got it there but good eye ! I like my back cut about 2” above notch.

39.25” ish. A little bigger than I guessed. That’s a 20” bar saw for reference. Still a lot of good wood in her looks like for sure some white stuff tomorrow but I still may get out here and pick on it 2809DA82-DD09-492A-97F1-2EE40305792C.jpeg D8689A01-5196-41E1-8D6E-A38D8E9A186C.jpeg 626E0CA6-4BE2-4E6B-8517-33FA975EAA30.jpeg

It is physical work but is also my therapy, so almost mot like work for me. Especially one on my own place I don’t have to rush around and get it done.

    Oh yeah I get it!
Same thought here as far as a therapy sort of thing. Most don't get it but I enjoy it. Lack of time is my biggest issue. Need to make more time for it instead of other things.
    Have fun !!

I am sales manager and sit on my butt in an office or my truck 90% of the week and hate that part of it. I really enjoy being outside and productive every chance I get !
