All I have is a wheelbarrow Ive had the handles brake tire split front support posts give out all last year.Made my own handles out of oak board that I had.I got heavy duty tire and rim from a barter and reinforced the supports by welding some rerod to them: saving money is making money. The thing is bulletproof now. According to the Rangers, we are not suppose to go any farther than it takes for the vehicle to be off on the road which are seasonal.
No doubt they've changed rules as time passes and the State has done the same. Oh for the days when you could go in and get some really good firewood free for the taking. Not that way today. Anyway, that is some really nice oak.
Does that mean no ATV ? Glad you have a strong back. Garden way has a nice cart with huge wheels that is easy to balance the wt over the axil. Anyway, good for you, stay safe.
I understand restricting ATV use on federal land for joy riding, but for harvesting wood or pulling out a hunting score, I do not understand their rational. Not like you are going to make roads or tear the earth up. I would like to see conditional permits issued.
Like it or not, that has been the law here as long as I can remember. Even during deer season they don't want you off the trail. However, they will at least let you haul out a deer or drag it back to the trail. As for the wood cutting, I'm betting if they did allow the atv in, people would soon ruin things for the rest of the good guys. And in MI, there is so much State and Federal Land it would be impossible to police, so they just outlaw it. Also keeps the masses close to the road rather than going through the woods.
Nice score, PMP. We dropped two dead leaders off of a HUGE red oak yesterday morning, I took a small load of the really dead branches home for some firepit fuel but left the rest of the load up there for a buddy of mine. Oak is one of my favorites, even though it takes longer to season it's well - worth the wait IMHO.
Is it right to do wrong? Perhaps one could get away with some but what if he does get caught? A couple $500 fines would soon change their mind and that does happen in MI. No, it is still best to stay within the rules.
