Dang... I had gotten emails from CI and Bid that there was a big tax on them nestled in the Build back better bill .... Thank God it failed. So does that mean I need to buy you a years worth and meet you at Dennis GTG in the spring... to avoid that?
Don't know too many other places that have the low population I desire. Alaska is a bit extreme for this old guy, sorry to say.
I should take inventory on what I have on hand. I'm thinking it'd be good for awhile! Don't know if a GTG is ready for me..........
Just finished counting. Over 500 on hand. (we'll keep this on the "Q T" so 99 doesn't find out, right?) I see some have the white crystalline on them....I think they're ready! About 5 of 'em.
Son in law gave me some rocky patel edge cigars fot xmas, those are excellent, constructed very well and have a good taste, no head buzz to speak of.
Had a vintage 90 this evening down at the workbench with the exhaust fan running! First cigar in over a month! Maybe I should have had a Connecticut!
Had one of these last week. Sorry I waited so long before I bought them as they have been discontinued. So good!
What is bad... besides those CAO being obsoleted, is the Diesel Shorty backordered (none available)... ... I was liking the short smoke but big ring gauge....
I have read up to page 11 of this thread. I’ll dive in here & ask some questions : If a fella was to order some stogies should they be put in the freezer straight away to take care of any potential beetles them moved to a cooler or humidor? Along the same lines should any stogies just be stored for a long period of time to season them or just try them out straight away ? How does storing them over a long period of time affect the tobacco? I would imagine that I would be more of a cigarillos type of guy. I find this thread fascinating & educational, I like the smell of some cigars & pipe tobacco but others are rather revolting.
JimBear As far as the freezer goes, I used to do that and for quite some time and then quit for whatever reason. I can't remember why. I think some suppliers Now-a-days, they go right into the "coolidor" which has it's own humidity source. Has been working great for years. Some cigars are great right off the truck while others require time. And then there are some that I can't tell the difference. I'll usually have one shortly after arrival and then put them away for awhile. There were a couple of brands that I didn't like after I tried them. After months (and months-couple of years or more) I tried one and was amazed at how much I enjoyed them! And here, I had been giving them away here and there. With that in mind, long storage time was beneficial. Taste is subjective. What I like, you may find terrible and vice versa. As a side note, I found an box of Philippine cigars from the 70's that I had bought while there. There were a couple left. Still have them but not gonna try 'em!
yooperdave Thank you for the info. Years ago I smoked some Swisher Sweets, Black & Milds & tried a Cuban that made me sicker than a dog (nobody told me not to inhale ). I have a couple of cousins that smoke cigars occasionally & they smell great but I keep forgetting to ask what they are. I think they may get them at the convenience store. Anyways I couldn’t sleep last night & started reading this thread then ended up ordering about $200 worth of stuff, just a drop in the bucket to some & most likely will be like smoking dog turds but went with some cigarillos for the most part thinking I could puff on them while in the tractor planting instead this spring & thinking they would work for bug control in the evenings. I will most likely order some more regular cigars later but lack of sleep, having a hankering for a cigar & being in a group of enablers prompted this order. I got a Gourmet Ghurka sampler humidor. Item #: CRCUT-1000 1 Gourmet Gurkha Humidor Combo SAMPLER (15) + Humidor a cutter & lighter some Backwoods Moduro Cigarillos Romeo y Julieta Aroma Natural Mini Cigarillo Sweet Pack of 20 Tatiana Flavored Mini Cigarillos Cherry PACK (10) Macanudo Inspirado Red Cigarillos Pack of 20 Tabak Especial Cafecita Dulce PACK (10) Item #: TEB-PM-1007
Hopefully they will be here by the end of the week. I suppose those cigarillos need to be in a humidor as well don’t they ?
