9 °F at 8:00 PM , weather guessers are saying Low: -5 °F tonight coals are glowing in the Republic , 75 °F inside
20, heading for 8. Brought a few nice sized rounds of pignut hickory up for the overnight. 73 upstairs above the stove room.
10 above with a wind chill of -5. Boiler loaded with Locust, shop stove with Oak. Nice comfy 72 inside. No new snow, just kinda cloudy & bleh.
Shoot, we've got a heat wave goin here -2°F 10 to 15 knot breeze. It's really very nice out. Just walked the dogs half hour ago. The easterly blow we had resculptured the snow by quite a bit. Looks quite different out there. When the wind slacked off, I went up on the roof and shoveled off a bunch more snow and ice. I'm feeling much better now. Still have more to do. But gotta take my pup to the vet tomorrow. Stay very busy just trying to keep up with what continues. I gotta find the time to fix the plow truck. I loathe seeing all this snow and crap in my driveway and door yard. I'll probably put in birch and aspen poles for the overnight
4F/70F this AM. 4 days of 30F starting today. A super nice break from the cold. Should be seeing lots of action from people getting outdoors in the warm weather. Durn near shorts and sandles weather I plan to replenish my indoor stacks from my stash outside. Start filling the pool. Get the grill back out. You know.
Good morning FHC, it's 5* out and 60 in, I have a stove full of coals and added Red Maple and Oak and it's cooking up nicely to warm up the joint.
10°/70° with a mix of apple, beech and black birch. Looks like that'll be the bulk of what I'll be burning for the next month or so, with some black locust thrown in sporadically. It should hit the upper teens later on today, then drop back down to the single digits by tonight.
Burning big chunks of Pine at the moment to get until I load it full of Beech for the workday. Schools delayed two hours because windchills are near -35. I don’t know why. We use to walk for miles to school uphill both ways through three feet of snow that had a foot of old shad fly under it when the temperatures were -40 and the wind was blowing like crazy. Your snot would freeze to your stash just as it came out your nose and ……….
It is beautiful outside right now with a purple sky in the east and that color is reflecting on the snow.
