    Stumbled on this. Interesting, I guess...? I imagine it could take a bit of a learning curve. Probably safer than my come along and chains, depending on length, angle and availability of a helper....

    They are great when you have a smaller diameter tree and cant use wedges.

    I wonder if theres a chain around the stump at ground level to keep the jack from kicking out

    Thank you for the vote of confidence Eric. Tree felling is geometry , the most important tool you have is between your ears . I do like the looks of that tool , have never used one. I do have a stuby hydraulic jack with a plate for the top that I have used for a few stubborn trees .I always back it up with wedges .

    I am curious why the wedge cut out of the tree was not cut more square with the world? Looks like there was a possibility of some slippage there.
