    I don't think it's what you guys generally refer to as Black Birch (the minty one.) I see that "Black" is the nickname for Sweet Birch...and for River Birch (which I do have here, and which has a subtle fragrance which is really nice, but not minty.)

    And some newbies also start thinking as soon as they begin this new thing but they look for the quickest and easiest route. No, or not much thought for the future. I know of 2 people really close to us who have ran out of wood year after year after year. They simply will not go out and cut when the weather is nice or they have time. Rather do other things. Both have been caught many times having to cut wood either during a snowstorm or right afterwards. Still they don't learn.

    I had written a lot more about that too, but yanked it out of the post trying to be a little more positive.
    My brother is one of those who's stuck in his ways and doesn't think it necessary to change, so I have some personal experience with that.
    Lots around here who burn but don't start the process until right about now to burn this winter.
    Not trying to be elitist, but I do try to be smart about what we do.
    I'm looking forward to this winter so I can learn the new stove and get really good at burning it.
    Turns out, the quickest and easiest thing in the long run is to do the work.
