I just went to town with 8 20lb tanks to refill. 4 were out of date. Normally it’s 15$ to refill, it was 20 currently. Then I drove all over town to exchange out dated tanks and only found 2 tanks. They were 23.50$ a piece. I’m glad I don’t hear with that chit.
We have a propane company in town that’ll refill tanks for $10. Speaking of, I need some refills to keep the pizza oven going!
I’ve had that done, just as easy to trade in and get a new or newer tank. I didn’t have the option to go through the filled bottles this time cause there were only 2 in cage. How long is your recertification good for?
Visual recertifications are good for 5 years. Hydrostatic recertifications are good for 10 years, but nobody does them because the cost is more than a new tank.
I usually exchange at Walmart. I checked with the new hardware store in town, and for their first year in business they're refilling for $2.99 a gallon. I got 3 bottles filled for $40 and some change. The Walmart exchange is almost $18 now. So I saved almost $13, and I got more gas in the bottles (assuming like yall said the exchange bottles aren't full). I never really gave much thought to getting them filled till reading this thread. Thanks yall!
