I don't know if they changed the way to measure snow or if it's that new kinda inequitable math they are talking about on tv. The 1-3" here is 6in at the moment and still coming down. At least it's real snow this time so easy to deal with.

We finished up with about 4" total. About the max of the first predictions and middle of the updated prediction. Zilch would have been better IMHO!

Not enough to mess with the big blower, So the walk behind gets used for the first time at the new "this old shack" place. Learned I need better gloves since the wind picked up. Or I just got old and whimpy??

Weather forecasters and politicians have a lot in common but especially one thing, they can lie but still be right.

I it ain't snowing outside the window when I look, it ain't snowing. Same with rain.

I'll leave the politics out of it!! We don't talk about that stuff here. Plenty of places to do that. And I don't think they(the weather geeks) lie, They only try to predict. Mother nature does her own thing and just has to prove she's the boss. :D

Yup, that's what we got here....Zilch. Beautiful (but cold) day. Took in all the XMas decorations. If we get a warm day in the future, might have to cut the grass.

I am a bit south and east of you, was in the 3-5" and got about 3" of snow. I'm down in a valley so those in higher terrain probably got more. Friend in Henniker, at a higher elevation, said she got 4".

It was very easy to clean up, especially since I could get out there and clean up before the winds hit. Road plow came thru about 11:00 and I got out there when he made his last pass so that the berm didn't have time to melt before I got it taken care of.

That is my take also. Hey, the storm shifts 25 miles and it's a whole different ballgame for those that weren't supposed to be impacted and leaves others out of it that were supposed to be in the path. And they are trying to give a general number while elevation and terrain can make micro climates (around here they usually say that those higher in elevation may see spot higher amounts of snow for example).

My take is they are weather guessers - based on computer models as well as experience in the area they are forecasting for. Better than no warning at all, but subject to the effects of ocean currents, sunspots, upper air currents, lower air currents, land mass interaction, inland water body interactions, existing local area conditions (such as snow pack versus no snow pack), as well as those darn butterflies at the other side of the globe.

They aren't lying, which is a deliberate miscommunication or omission (at best).

We had a meteorologist that was clearly distraught after the missed forecast of the "no show hurricane" a year ago. I felt bad for her. Better than no warning at all was exactly how I felt. Kind of a better safe than sorry deal ifn you ask me.

My grandma always said "prepare for the worst and the best will happen".

and always will, no matter how hard humans attempt to alter it. I ought to know as I farm and Ms. nature dictates everything I do, every year.

I never cut the grass, I bale and sell it, well I do around the house and the rentals but for the most part it's cut, raked, bailed and sold. Far as I'm concerned, lawnmowing should be outlawed as a waste of energy in fuel and effort.

Somehow, I always thought you had to CUT the grass before baling. But YOU must have some magic way of getting it baled w/o cutting, w/o using ANY fuel or effort. But as long as you can make some $$$ from it, THEN it's ok to cut. Hyprocrite.

Goes right along with everything else you comment with on this forum......you have a different way to do things, and they're the only right way.

The hardest part was waiting for the plow guy to make his way here to do the driveway. I took my old Gravely with the plow blade and cleaned up the edges and walkways and around the mailbox, but held off the rest so as to not upset the plow guy.

I did a lot of moving around years ago, and lived in Henniker for 3-4 years, this is my second time in Webster.

I'd rather be using the tractor to cut grass than push sn*w! I use my clippings to mulch the garden to keep the weeds at bay! Works dandy.

Snow... No bugs. Good campfire weather. Yard looks good. Beer stays cold. Reason to walk around the house in your socks, looking out the windows.
