We have our first below zero reading this year but it won't be the last.

The weather guessers as of right now are still predicting 1-3" of snow in my town. I know when I left my house an hour and a half ago, there was 6-7" on the ground and it's supposed to continue on until mid-morning. Since this is our first significant storm of the season I'm more than okay with that. Anyway, it's 25° and the stove is chock full of an aromatic mix of apple and black birch this morning.

    14. Bubblin goo still burning. Later today I’ll be able to refill the wood boiler and fire it up. Yesterday I filled it and had a leak at the valve I replaced the thermostat in. Had to drain the boiler again and take valve cover off. Then wire brush clean both surfaces and install form-a-gasket stuff for high temperatures. That will teach me for not doing that the first time!

16/70 had a nice full load of ash and sugar maple last night. Getting ready to load some ash and sycamore. About an inch of snow cover today and supposed to hang about 20 today.

-19 at the moment but I expect it to drop a few more degrees as the sun comes up. Oak in the Lopi and I am having the oil furnace running a little bit. Should warm up tomorrow and then back in the deep freeze until the second half of next week.

2* outside. Nice and warm inside. Boiler has about 1/2 of yesterday's load of 50/50 cherry and hickory left in there, more than enough to make it through the day.

Man-o-man, you guys and gals are getting walloped with cold temps! Weather hacks say that's headed my way but not nearly as extreme!

Right now its 24 with a wind chill of 19 @ work, probably 6-8" of snow from last night. Lows supposed to hit 16 tonight. Looks like I'll be bringing in a few more splits tomorrow just because.

With the temperatures some of you are seeing, and the ones in the forecast for the next few weeks here, maybe we are going to have winter.

35 with 20mph wind that feels like it’s coming from Saskatchewan. I’m headed home to burn some Oak and Red Maple.
