got some pics of full load of standing dead oak I got yesterday. It took 6.5 hrs from tree to the wheel barrow to the truck all hand split.Cant tell from pic but back of the truck is also full had strap wheelbarrow on topper.
Yes it will be but probably not till the tail end of winter or spring .I'am very fortunate I have some area's not far from me that lots of standing dead oak all gray bark fallen off just awesome area to cut.
Not a square inch of space available to put more wood in those moving vehicles. That's efficiency right there. Good job!
Nice full load there poulan! Got yourself some good stuff there. That dead oak can be rough on chains though.
Nice....dead standing cuts the dry time at least in half....28% or less prolly a year..great score...
I clean and take a file to em after every time out.I always have a sharp chain and take some spare ones along for the ride.
After the fire alot of people started cutting in the area but now just a few of us.Because of laziness if it isn't close to the road not as easy to see with all the new growth and ferns 3 ' tall they just don't bother looking. The ones that do cut seem to go after the greener trees for some reasonwhen there are perfect diameter trees laying and the most beautiful gray just begging to be stacked and burned. They just leave em and I grab em and stack em.I have a problem lately if I aint cuttin I'am thinking about cuttin.
Me too. Pushed myself a little too hard last weekend though; my shoulder and elbow are a little sore from the impact of all the splitting. So, I'm taking a little rest from it and building a sawbuck this weekend. Took some ideas from a couple other ones I've seen and drew up some of my own plans Wednesday night. Even when I gotta take a break from it, I just can't!
Using that dead oak is one smart move, and good for you being willing to take those located further in. I hope you have something besides a wheelbarrow to pull that heavy stuff out.
