just the other day I was thinking I need to go look for some more free firewood, and this morning a neighbors tree fell into my yard! Fortunately no major damage to my house and aside from the smashed rear window in my car, I now have some free wood and don't have to move it that far to my stacks.
Well shoot. Sucks about the car but free wood is free wood. In the end I hope you don't end up paying for it.
Hope the broken window works out ok. I’ve always hated how the neighbors insurance is not responsible if their tree falls on your property! Doesn’t make since to me?
Way to look at the positive side! Too bad about the windshield but now you get a nice clean view in the rear and free wood! Imagine a limb falling down and you can't tell where it fell from.....then whose fault is it? Or if multiple trees fell down from both sides? My thinking is that's the easiest and fairest way to determine responsibility....If it's on your property, it's your problem.
yeah this is very weird to me. the tree wasn't dead yet but if someone was paying attention to the trees in their yard, they might have seen that the base of the tree was rotting and done something about it. But like LordOfTheFlies says, as its now on my property, perhaps that is the most fair way to address it. I am actually now going to have two large oaks in my yard taken down which I have been keeping a close eye on; even more wood!! now I really need to get moving on my plans for a wood stove in my house
