Moving clay in the cold begins. 094C6E0B-62A0-471A-97C0-7A5F98718B40.jpeg Snow is an insulator. Ground still a little soft underneath. 70EA8EA8-A8E8-4388-90DF-1522D750307D.png A few more days of cold temperatures needed to really freeze it up. We will see how the CAT does this morning.

Stay away from the crazies, Dennis. Nothing like having neighbors spreading false info about you. Stay safe. Hope it doesn’t get nasty.

Trying to see what I can get done here until I have to go back to work tomorrow. The list seems to never get smaller. I need to snowblow from the other day. Since we were not going anywhere yesterday, and again not today, there wasn't any real reason to do it earlier. I chose to take Hayden out and get him some good excercise. That was the right option because the day before he went on a 100 lb puppy rant and jumped onto my wife while she was on the couch then "bounced" off of her and proceeded to run around the house in a similar spazz . She's got a bruise on her stomach from that. So yeah, Hayden getting exercise is important.

It's getting balmy out at 11° outside now.

Dogs do get antsy and frustrated when they are cooped up indoors. I need to give my big guy chew toys and chew treats to keep him sane.

Tragic. No way for anyone to leave this earthly life. Can't and don't want to imagine that experience. Way too many tragic events such as this.
I wouldn't hesitate to call the cops should you sense some physical altercations to occur. Clear cutting isn't always bad, not always good either. But unless the area is zoned ore otherwise regulated, the owner has the right to do what ever he wants. The land all around me has been cut, but not clear cut. I actually think I see more deer and other wildlife after it was opened up.

I take mine out on a 30ft lead and let him run circles and back and forth. Sometimes I toss toys which he loves to go after and then play tug of war. Inside, like you, I keep him busy with chews and toys. He get into a lot less problems when he is kept busy.

Not getting any feedback on the critter thread so thought I would ask here.

Anyone have an idea what might have made this style nest/den? I had something build a nest on top of one of my stacks last night. The flashlight caught a shadowy form on top of a stack when I took the dog out around 0400 this morning and I initially thought it was a raccoon until I got closer and saw what it was. Knocked the nest off after daylight and there were no droppings or anything, just the boughs and a bunch of leaves so not sure what made it.

Some good news. Nothing from the neighbor this morning. Guys are in there getting the machinery started but it got cold enough everything was pretty stiff. They may not be able to work either as the ground is very wet and not frozen at all. Put big machinery in there and it will tear up the ground bad and also take a chance of getting bogged down. If so, he does have enough he could rescue things.

That’s what I was thinking too, EODMSgt … or some branches broke off and landed in some uncannily neat and well placed fashion…?

Could tell by looking at the ends of those twigs.....to see if they are broke or chewed.

Would be good to set up a trail cam to keep an eye on it. Does look like a squirrels nest, but odd that is not up in a tree

Possibly. I did spot a grey squirrel about an hour ago. Haven't seen many of those in a few years. Still kind of a strange location to build a nest.

We had a lot of wind yesterday and some small branches came down, but they sure didn't make pile by themselves!

    A bit of both.

Good idea on the camera. Whatever built it, they did a quick job as it appeared in under 12 hours. Critters are moving in on my red oak stash!

I got a trail cam for a Christmas gift and was taught how to set it up right down to transferring to the computer. Nice!

Then, I got way below the recommended operating temperature range so I took it back inside the house the last few nights.

Well. the fox showed up and now the only evidence I have are the tracks in the snow! :picard:
